I thought Euro 96,but obviously Hereford was 1997 but still loads of Union Jack flags on show.
Maybe our flag expert [MENTION=29098]Sussaxon[/MENTION] could help with an answer.

Good point, but you wouldn't bin a decent Union flag straight away thou. I think after Euro 96 they were the flag of choice, when I went to France 98 you could see the difference then.

Yes good point, I think I can only see one Union Jack in that stand full of England flags.

Maybe companies selling flags also started pushing St George cross flags after Euro 96, most of the flags I see at matches now have good quality printing of club badges and names. Rather than the Union Jack with just a hand stitched team name on.

Can't seem to open the 2 photo attachments with your Union Jack photos ( Goldstone and Hereford) I can see the Euro 98 photos.
