Check out The James Gray Collection look for volume 16 North west Hove, start on pictures 65-80 and you will find some fantastic pictures of the Goldstone, I had never seen these before, examples below show the ground as a farm and the again during the early 1900's when the East bank was mud and no goldstone lane existed, then again see it in the 1950's, 2 months before the original west stand was knocked down and replaced with what many of us knew and loved.
The below picture of the farm can be hard to make out, as I understand the curving wall in the foreground shows wher Goldstone lane will be, The south stand would back onto somewhere near those farm buildings.
The picture below that shows shows 2 houses, one of which was Goldstone house, tha't the angle the top shot was taken from.

It shows the west stand under construction in 1958.
Almost 51 years later and the new east stand at Falmer will be in the same shape.
