Old hat maybe - but why no dedicated beer queues?

I must admit I don't really understand the necessity to get a beer at half time - it was never an option at the Goldstone or Withdean. There are plenty of Northstanders who missed that Bobby goal on Saturday, Stockdale's penalty save last season and to top the lot there were many who missed all three goals v Palace on that great day.

Can a pint really replace those moments.

The trouble is - when I queue I believe there is a chance I *might* get served in time. So our intention is not to deliberately
miss the first few mins of the half.

East Upper has a beer only stand alone bar. Problem is that sometimes the staff don't know how to work it. In an ideal world there would be three staff, one taking money, one pouring the Harveys and one on the fizzy water. But then I run retail shops so I know how to make money rather than cutting staff costs.
They do need to speed up the hot drinks system some how. Self service would not work (hot water) but perhaps having them ready similar to the beer may be better (they are very hot so wont cool down in the time it takes to be sold).

Because we'd all have stiff necks in the North? Most people turn round and watch the big screen behind them rather than the one in front of them.

Indeed, Bovril takes over an hour before it is drinkable I recall

Might I suggest that watching the game of football which you have paid a reasonable amount of money for is rather more important than consuming beer. The latter you can do any time. Very bad fan.

And then you get the people in the queue who call over their mates to ask what they want just as they get to the front, or the till breaks down, or there is a hold up whilst three cashiers are waiting for pints to be poured. The whole set up is not conducive to many people getting served within the 15 minute window. I am amazed so many people still try.

When I questioned (I do that ) why the Harvey's is not pre poured at the mobile stands in wsu I was informed that the beer drinking public did not like their beer lying around for too long prior to supping. Feck me, they've done a survey have they. Just get them ready.

Then go to one of the other outlets that is not beer only, simple.

The number one queue problem at the AMEX is the catering companies blatant attempt to take cash over card, and their cash only queues. It's the 21st century. In this day and age it's ridiculous to expect everyone to always have enough cash with them. (Although I will admit, the AMEX has more than its fair share of cave men) The card queues are always twice the length and there are half as many of them. Go figure. Contactless and ApplePay etc are quicker than cash will ever be so they have absolutely no legitimate justification for it. Just take all forms of payment, on all tills.

Thats all very well but we not all equipped with this new technology, i'm a no cash man, have 4 banks accounts that all have debit cards but none of them have offered me a contactless card. do you have to specifically apply for them?

Simple answer dont join the queue and either take a drink hot or cold in flask or go without, it is for less than 2hrs that you have to wait.

My lad goes in with my debit card a few minutes before half time and gets us both a pint in, so when the half time whistle goes, I mince off into the concourse and the beer is there waiting. He queues, I pay, that's the deal.

I don't ALWAYS bother, but I like to see the half time scores coming through on Sky with a quick pint.

If half time was only ten minutes I could manage w/o a pint, fifteen minutes plus and I start to get bored. People missing out on buying a drink at half time is lost revenue to the club.

No as I can buy anything I want without possibly missing a crucial moment. I do not have a beer at The Amex but if I was desperate I would take beer in my flask or queue and possibly miss a goal.
