Can f***ing royally f*** off as far as possible. Just got back to Hassocks, not going to make the game because some bunch of old ***** feel fit to close all the roads round here so they can ponce around in the f***ing old pieces of shit.

Then Sussex Police choose to send THREE officers to direct traffic at a perfectly good set of traffic lights so that the aforementioned old ***** don't have to stop at red lights. 45 minutes to do a few miles back here to get my ST. Marvelous. Absolute wankers.

Well perhaps not every single person in the entirety of England gives a s much of a shit about what you want to do as you do. And perhaps someone should have planned a bit more in advance.

You're absolutely right, I really should have allowed 45 minutes to get from Pyecombe to Hassocks. And I'm glad Sussex Police have so little to do they can justify 3 officers to over ride some working traffic lights.

What a perfect world you must live in.

They only do it once a year, it was signposted for ages and this is thier hobby just as much as yours is every Saturday during football season. You should have allowed more time, seems most others coped?

It's only been going on since 1896. It clearly takes a while for the word to get around.

I drive that way twice a day, there were no advance warning signs up this week.

1 PCSO, 2 'proper' police.

Why can they not use traffic lights like everyone else?

What purpose does closing the Hassocks to Pyecombe road in both directions serve?

The most curious thing..
Couldn't you have gone through Ditchling and over the Beacon?

If you only just got back at 3.24 and it took you 45 minutes then you only left pycombe at about 2.45. So you were planning to get to a game that kicked off at 3pm. Something wrong here. And as everyone else has said, this is a long standing event on the first Sunday of every November. So basically, tough shit. By the way, Brighton won so if it's an omen perhaps you could stay away for future games as well!!!!

Good point about staying away!!! Was aware I was going to miss the first bit, wasn't to fussed as I'd taken my mum out for lunch and knew I was going to be pushing making the start. Expected to be home about ten to three, at the ground about 15 minutes in.

I agree with the OP. these old hunks of junk should not be allowed to pollute our atmosphere. Put them in a museum.

I don't know why they do it.... the ones I saw chugging and wheezing were all carrying thoroughly miserable grumps. Mind you, I'd be grumpy, 3 hours sat in the cold on top of an old lawnmower without 5Live or air con.

It does get a bit chilly but its great fun. Better to see these old beauties once a year than never at all and in a stuffy museum. Some of them are worth more than your homes! Beautiful things which we should show our kids so they understand where motoring started!

Now I've calmed down it's still not for me. There was a fella riding down the A23 on a penny farthing! I can only assume that the police were causing 15 minute delays at the stonepound lights today to avoid the cars having to stop and have to hillstart again. I imagine if I had a car that wasn't capable of a hillstart I wouldn't have priority over other road users?

Drove past them going up Clayton Hill and they were perfectly happy and waiving and only held me up for about 10 minutes and pretty sure that was not their fault

I was delayed by approx 30 seconds at the old steine. Made me a little grumpy.

However once I had parked and done some shopping I was cheered immensely when first I saw one on a trailer, and even funnier, one being towed towards the finish line.

I was able to resume my grumpiness when stuck on the slip road at falmer, so all ok in the end.

p.s 3 points today yeah
