Brighton. NOT KEMPTOWN!
I believe that the old Floral Market and Cafe Rouge would have been the next street westwards, behind the town hall.
Looks like that post box on the corner has survived all these years.

The old Worthing Fruit & Flower Company were on the corner of Prince Albert Street and Bartholemews - before moving to the now demolished municipal fruit market on Circus Street.

This is a great thread. I moved to Brighton to work in the planning department of the Borough Council (located above Dunn and Co, now Metro bank) and its fascinating to see changes/lack of or indeed improvements in Conservation Areas. The exception being the old floral market because it was replaced by the hideous Bartholomew Square.

Queens Road/Clock Tower?

Is that The Regent on the left, where my Mum met my Dad?

Yes, that is the Regent on the left. My parents met there too in the late 1940's

The partial sign is for the Golden Galleon pub which was under the Regent. It had a really steep staircase leading to a bar that hosted drag acts. Stumbled down there once when in my late teens. Once was enough.

My Mum and Dad went dancing in the Regent Ballroom.
They said the floor used to bounce when it was packed.
My mum and dad met there!
