THere are several Rapiers and a MInx racing in 50's saloons . . .and Alpines. I built quite a few engines for them. 1725's make great torque, but for class victories the latert 5 bearing 1500, with MGB steel rods, Forged bespoke pistons, a cam and webers, 140 BHP at 7000rpm. Cars are heavy though.My first car was a Rapier series IV, lovely car. Wanted a Lotus Cortina though
a Lotus twin cam is hard to beat. great sountrack, only the Alfa sounds as good/better without adding more cylinders.
dragging vaguely on topic . . . The Rootes group were well represented locally, and Harringtons had dealerships in Worthing as well as the coachworks in 'Ove actually, a few hundred yards from the Goldstone.
