Ive got a badly cut out Argus scrap book in the loft that I made as a young'un in 1979.My mum used to send me copies of the Argus special additions in the post, I was looking for something else and came across these.

Not from the Argus, but this is a team photo from
1952 ( then year that I was born) from a magazine of the time just call Sport.

Sad in a way to see the Argus - along with the rest of the newspaper industry - fall on hard times. It really used to do the Albion proud. The Saturday pink football paper, available from your local newsagent about 90 minutes after the final whistle, was quality: full Albion match report, many non-League reports and a full round-up of the scores. Oh, and an update of their fantasy football table that ran to about three pages.
And this thread prompted me to dig out this nicely-produced Argus publication...

I had a huge cardboard box full of all sorts of Albion stuff, including newspaper cuttings, protest posters, virtually anything to do with Brighton. Having just gone through the "Swedish Death Cleaning" process, I gave everything to my Grandson, aged 10, who is also a Season Ticket holder. I also gave him my ticket stub collection and loads of Albion books. I hope he looks after everything, just like I did. I'm sure he will.
I asked my 4 1/2 year old grandson to take over the "Count to 500,000" thread so he could hand it over to his grandson and when the great great grandson turned 80 years old he could be the one who posted #500,000.
My grandson, Jaxon, said "What? huh?"
My son said "I'm sorry, your grandfather is truly stupid sometimes."

Still got quite a few of those articles and the commemorative book etc. Also got an empty bottle of bubbly from the changing rooms when we won Div 2, signed by a load of the players. Unfortunately they've all faded away to almost nothing now though (the autographs, not the players or memories!)

I used to keep all the Albion features from The Argus in the late 70' early 80's along with copies of Sounds (music paper). I think they are boxed up in the loft somewhere unless the mice have got to them. Maybe dig them all out soon.

During my time in Australia early to mid 80s my late Mum used to do exactly the same. Somewhere in the storage unit are ageing copies of the Argus from the cup final. She'd also send copies of the local rag with court reports of people I might know. Often I did.

Saved these two editions of the Argus (same as countless others doubtless did)
