OK, so what ARE the other possible sites and why can't we build a stadium there?

the Club have already done this, all they need to do now (as I understand it) is to recheck it all and re-submit it during the new inquiry, any other new sites that pop up the club will work hard to turn them down as we simply cant afford to go through all this again with a new area for a stadium.

Waterhall- north of by-pass
Sheepcote Valley-too expensive, poor access
Toad's Hole Valley- too expensive, proven to be unsuitable before
Brighton Station- there's going to be a sainsbury's there
Shoreham Harbour- not in brighton, too expensive
Greyhound track- no
Newhaven- too far from brighton
The Marina- no
The Pier- no
Devil's Dyke- no
Preston Park- no
Hove Park- no
Churchill Square- no

I can't think of a lot wrong with Waterhall.

a) It's by a main road.

b) It also has a railway and could easily have a stopover station
built.

c) It's ugly as hell, so surely no worries on that point - it has a sewage works for crying out load.

d) It's in Brighton (not bloody shoreham)

Upper Beeding Cement Works - too much cost in clearing, local opposition, no train station anywhere nearby, small B road access only

its north of the by-pass, and apart from the sewage works, is considered an AONB

Why is being north of the bypass an issue?
Surely its got to be better than Shoreham Harbour?

Whos gonna pay for that? it'd cost millions alone! besides you cant build a station within 1mile of a tunnel...and theres a tunnel right next to it!

What gets me is stadiums like reading are no where near a station and have a huge car park and infacct close to motorway and get granted !! other sites such as waterhall and even sheep cote not too diff... sheepcote could provide enough carparking for all but we all know that cars are not pc in this equation !!

According to another post elswhere there are 7 sites up for consideration:

Brighton Station;
Brighton Greyhound Stadium;
Shoreham Harbour;
Sheepcote Valley;
Toad's Hole Valley;
Waterhall;
Withdean Stadium.

Building work already started on the station site so that one can be discounted straight away

Corals won't sell the Greyhound track, so thats another one gone

Lewes station is right next to a tunnel? So is Brighton Station for that matter!

brighton developers can't build beyond the by-pass(so technically its not in brighton)

yes it is better than shoreham harbour- so what?

thats like saying "yeh lets build it at sheepcote valley- surely thats better than my back garden"

Your back garden isn't one of the options is it or have I missed it on the report?

The thread is about exploring possible new sites for the stadium and considering each one.

I personally think Shoreham would be a bad idea as its too far away - I hope that's not a problem for you or your garden

its still got the works railway going into it apparently - that could easily be used to transport fans

surely it is out of the about of miles it has to be to the city?
