could do something with "run" by snow patrol? I'm not very good at this.

Light up, light up = Brighton, Brighton
As if you have a choice = Falmer you have no choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice = For you'll hear our voice
I'll be right beside you, dear = We'll be right you beside dear

Louder, louder = Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives = and you'll run for your lives
I can hardly speak, I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

Brighton, Brighton

Since people love singing fast... Johnny Cash 'I've been everywhere man'

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov4epAJRPMw

[yt]ov4epAJRPMw[/yt]

I was totin' my pack along the long dusty Winnemucca road
When along came a semi with a high canvas covered load
"If you're goin' to Winnemucca, Mack with me you can ride
And so I climbed into the cab and then I setteled down inside
He asked me if I'd seen a road with so much dust and sand
And I said, "Listen! I've traveled every road in this here land!"

We've won everywhere, man
We've won everywhere, man
Crossed the ball and scored, man
Hit the ball and scored, man
Game wins - we've had our share, man
We've won everywhere

We've beaten:
Blackpool
Coventry
Cardiff
Crystal Palace
Birmingham
Doncaster
Derby
Middlesborough
Nottingham
Watford
Peterbr'ough
Oklahoma
Barnsley
Southampton
Huddersfield
Bristol City
Leicester
Notts County
Stevenage
Amarillo
Tocapillo
Pocatello
Amperdllo

This. I'm sure it's been posted on here before somewhere, and with a nod to Mr Garoghan the words may need a slight tweek now we're there, but anyway....

Yeah, or we could just er, sing the Brighton words to it that have been around for about 25 years.

My old man said be a Palace fan...

You'll know the rest if you aren't a JCL...

You seem to have missed the point. It would be good to have a song that reflects the struggle for the ground and one that's got a bit more substance than simply abusing Palace....

I don't think I could be classed as a JCL. STH at Withdean & 32 years watching the Albion mate - I've seen
most of these tunes come and go more than once!

Does anyone recall a song that went

Who through the pie that hot me on the eye?

Was sung outside the shop queuing for tickets for the playoff final!

Years ago in the North stand of the Goldstone we used to do that chant of
SEA clap-clap-clap-clap-clap GULLS,clap-clap-clap-clap-clap
SEA clap-clap-clap-clap-clap GULLS,
It used to sound great,we could dig it up again and use that - Anyone else remember it? It was mid 70`s Peter Ward years.

Works for me

Below is a quick off the top of my head list of songs that the more talented wordsmiths out there could try to create an original new song for either the team or a specific player. I've not selected from any specific period, just gone for songs that meet as many of these as possible:

  • Are memorable or already well known
  • Contain catchy sections or chorus
  • Simple Lyrics
  • Pertinent Lyrics

The Clash - London Calling - Brighton Calling?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lotkzHsIuoA

Roxette - It Must Have Been Love - the Chorus is slow and easy to sing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YPH3iDAhkb8

Jefferson Starship - Nothing's Gonna Stop Us now - once again the chorus is slow easy to sing, and a lot of the words are relevant already

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBoQvhzeeCY

Abracadabra - Steve Millers Band - catchy, memorable.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B_scFjd2pSI

Saturday Night – Whigfield - catchy chorus, easy lyrics.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3CWkayic5Y

Ace Of Base - All that she wants - slow, well known? repeatable chorus

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Billy Joel Uptown Girl - slow, melodic, well known tune with simple lyrics

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEIcTstEmnQ

Beatles - Let it Be - I know this is used elsewhere, but it's beautiful and fits all the criteria

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

The Beach Boys - Good Vibrations - catchy, well known, a but tricky perhaps

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

The Who - Pinball Wizard - bit too fast? But any chorus which features 'Wizard' must be possible

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Human League - Don't you Want me Baby

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Depeche Mode - Just Can't Get Enough - If only for the Chorus

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

This is just a few - perhaps if other's have candidates they can add them. We can do this!

You could be on to some thing with londons calling i am no song writer, but between us ? Brightons calling live by the seee

did you hea martin toal sing dean martin's volare? we should sing something like

gus poyet, oh oh
___________, oh oh oh oh etc

Just read through this thread, my favourites (and those I think could really work well) are:

That's the way
Lua Lua
I like it
Lua Lua
Repeated when Kaz scores or tears them apart

Simple but effective!

It's fun to play at the A-M-E-X
It's fun to play at the A-M-E-X
You can have a good beer
You can watch Gordon Greer
And we don't care if you're straight or queer
The ultimate response to the homophobic chants, and Pride will love us. And spelling out the A M and X with our arms too would be very funny. Should wrong foot them nicely! :lolol:

Oh my god I can't believe it
We never thought we could be back home
Edited the second line a bit as I didn't think the original suggestion fitted, might need someone better at these things to tweak it a bit more... ???

We're Brigh-ton and Hove Albion
We're Brigh-ton and Hove Albion
We're Brigh-ton and Hove Albion...
Repeated endlessley to the tune of Seven Nation Army :thumbsup

Noone, Noone will tear you apart, again

OR

Lua, Lua will tear you apart, again
Think we gave it to Noone first, and is more in keeping with the original.

All you need is Gus
Da-da da da-da-da
All you need is Gus
Da-da da da-da-da
All you need is Gus, Gus
Gus is all you need

We've come a long long way together
Through the hard times and the good
We have to celebrate you Brighton
We have to praise you like we should

OR specially for Tony

We've come a long long way together
Through the hard times and the good
We have to celebrate you Tony
We have to praise you like we should
Surely we have to get this sung?! ???

I'm sure a couple of other suggestions could be improved on by those who know what they're doing. Snow Patrol 'Run' could work but not sure about all the lyrics in the first attempt.

But keep this up and spread the word and we should have some that will catch on.

Always think we're missing a trick with the song currently used for Adam El Abd (Mana Mana). It fits perfectly for Lua Lua, and should be his song.

El Abd, on the other hand, should have his heritage celebrated with the Addams Family tune

His sister's camel farmin'
His Dad's a Brighton barman
His Uncle's Tutankhamun
It's Adam's Family
Adam El Abd <click click>
Adam El Abd <click click>
Adam El Abd Adam El Abd Adam El Abd <click click>

We should bring back the Grand March from Aida song that the Holland fans sing. We should use my suggestion of "Rebel, Rebel" for the LuaLua song. And we should do the bouncy. :bounce:

Another suggestion from the vault of bad cheese, a song for tony to the tune of "Boom Boom Boom Boom" by The Vengaboys

"Bloom Bloom Bloom Bloom
Paid for our Stadium
He brought in Gustavo too
We love him we do

Bloom Bloom Bloom Bloom
Don't be fooled by his size
He's a poker playing wizard
We all love The Lizard"

Possible word tweaking there, but reckon it has potential.
