I don't read the Daily Express but if she wasn't our best chance of track and field gold there's no chance she'd be allowed to compete

I'm sure you're not, the Daily Express has many thousands of equally cynical and bitter readers whose glass is always half empty.

Well I'm afraid after the various opinions on the Chambers thread that he's a cheat and the steriods have forever enhanced his muscles I find the situation with her a bit 2 faced.

She misses three drugs test in a year while on roids while building up her muscles and strength to enhance her stamina, stops the roids and takes a year ban but she's now got the physique to be very competative when she returns?

Cynical maybe but i'm certainly not the only one

was she ever banned, for failing/missing tests?

seems hypocritical to let her come back, and not dwayne chambers..

She was banned for a year and also banned from the Olympics for life. However, the latter was overturned and she was allowed to run....obviously.

The subtle difference in the case is that she missed three drugs tests, whereas Chambers took SEVEN banned substances.

Unlike Chambers, she never failed a test. She just kept missing them, because she is very "forgetful". She picked up a 12 month ban and was originally banned from ever competing again in the Olympics by the BOA, but this was overturned on appeal.

...so she's about as much a proven cheat as the equally "forgetful" Rio Ferdinand?

Pretty much. Although Rio only missed one test (and dipped out on Euro 2004 as a result). I think Ohurougu's 12 month ban for 3 missed tests was about right, as was Rio's. A lifetime ban should only come into effect if they are PROVED to be a drugs cheat.

She WAS tested 14 times in 2006 - and was clear every time.

I don't think she is a cheat.

But the other side of the coin....if you know you're dosed up to the eyeballs with jungle juice, then you're more likely to pick and choose the tests you just happen to "forget".......

So she's a sort of answer to the eternal question: 'When is a drugs cheat not a drugs cheat'? Hmmmmmmm :p
