By calling someone a stupid woman, it implies all women are stupid.
He could have said don't be stupid.

Rubbish...Why should calling her a stupid woman imply all women are stupid..I imagine every Man and Woman alive have done stupid things......I`m sure May considers Corbyn to be a stupid man probably a lot worse if only we knew.

I think those worried about the fact that he probably called her stupid are the stupid ones !!

Is anyone actually worried? The media love to blow stuff like this up.

These are supposed to be the leaders of the country, and both of them were acting like children in a playground, not to mention the braying hourdes in the background. That concerns me far more.

the whole spectacle of PMQ has descended to nonsense. was always yah-boo, and a bit of showboating now its not even worth that. should stop televising it, possibly even bothering to report on it, as it only gives public a poor impression of Parliament now.

I think the media needs to cover more of what happens after. It just looks like PMQs is a load of hot air, but actually many of the questions and points actually raise actions that go to committees, are investigated, answers then delivered. Might seem like nothing happens, but it does trigger a lot in the background as my understanding goes.

No, that wouldn't be a sexist statement, as you're not making 'man' part of an insult.

And that’s where your analogy fails. Woman is not part of the insult and it’s incredible that people are more insulted by woman than stupid. Others have suggested cow or bitch as being better than woman but both are female words.

When trying to compare with racism etc you forget that you are comparing adjectival use with nouns. It’s very different.

Because JC makes great play of the importance in treating groups including women with respect, he mentiioned that yesterday after the incident.

A bit like Tory ministers in the 80’s and 90’s who promoted family values, whilst cheating on their wives.

The added jeopardy from being a paragon of virtue.

No, my analogy doesn't fail. It is sexist, which is why the media are talking about it. You don't understand, and I'm trying to help explain it to you.

No, you're mistaken, I am not comparing an adjective. Black is not an adjective in the sentence 'You are black', and it doesn't become an adjective when you add 'and you stink' to it.

Of course it is - The media you speak of is so worried about sexism. It's nothing to do wih trying to smear Corbyn. Twonk.

Correct - I would love to know how many of the offended have also raised concerns about the misogyny that is common on this board?

None, I think you'll find.

Corbyn is a hopeless idiot but the depths some will go to find a soggy old stick to beat him with says more about them than Corbyn.

I'm sorry, I don't see that it does really, or should do anyway.

Stupid man.

(I agree with you. How 'woman' becomes a term of abuse when 'stupid' is put in front of it whereas 'man' treated the same way doesn't is a logical nonsense).

Not much I disagree with you on but I feel this contradicts your view.

However, May's talk of a pantomime is the real issue in this silly sideshow.

We can debate the why's and wherefores of this take on terminology another time. When the newspapers run headlines on what, in the current context of events, is a peripheral distraction, one wonders if anyone on all sides of that house is fit for purpose.
