Greg Lake is a cousin of my wife. Even she's not keen on ELP's pompy pompous music though. Wishbone Ash would be good, after that I'm struggling to get enthusiastic about that line up. ZZ top ( how the f*** have they gatecrashed a Prog Rock concert?) and Uriah Heap hmmm maybe.

There's a Prog Rock night on BBC 4 tomorrow evening, it's a repeat of one earlier this year.

I was well up for this until I saw the price of the tickets.

The first five albums they were a blues based band who metamorphosised into a heavy rock band thanks to the Album Eliminator, several long legged women and MTV.

Cheaper than Reading, and without all the rubbish bands with no track record who are just there to make up the numbers ( I mean Limp Bizkit, Blink 182 and the other bullsh!t, I ask you - dons tin hat and awaits flaiming ).

All the bands this weekend have live gigs totalling decades behind them, no duff performances expected.......... and I hope lots of dry ice, capes and mellotrons.

With compulsory drum solos backed up by Moog synthesizers, Hammond organs and a new set of kitchen knives from Debenhams or Lakeland.

Sometimes but not for the likes of Caravan, Wishbone Ash and co. The dry ice was the preserve of the Pomp Rockers. I was at the Dome when ELPO played there, the Tarkus sprayed polystyrene balls into Emerson's grand piano and the concert had to be stopped for 15 minutes while they hoovered them out.

The finest house in the whole of Sussex used to be lived in by Keith Emerson:-

Shame the studio was too near the road.
