I would suggest we had to enabling money to be available to afford Bent. Not well thought out at all this season, emergency keepers lots of loans smacks of desperation and knee jerk reactions to be honest.

Yep, I agree. Andy Naylor tweeted this morning that 8 of the 11 summer signing are unlikely to be in the starting line up and some wont even make the squad. It does beg the question about the continued faith and praise installed by TB and PB on the recruitment department. Dont get me wrong, i think the signing of Elliot Bennet and Darren Bent are excellent. But there appears to be little cohesion in the whole COG signing Toko and Al habis, I wonder how much that one game he played cost us? We do appear to be in a mess on the recruitment front. We havent performed well in the last few transfer windows, other than selling the family silver. However, I dont think we are too far away from being a very good side.

CMS hasn't gone yet, officially, has he? I suspect this all depends on an incoming, as Bent is the O'Grady switch.

Although we may be waiting on a perm striker from overseas in January.

Halford would be cover for up front I would suggest. Bent, Baldock, Colunga and Halford as the 4 strikers?

O'Grady can now be added to the growing list of underwhelming strikers that have departed the Amex. Hopefully he'll do the business in League 1 and the Blades will make us an offer in due course.

One of the worst signings we've ever made, really poor. With CMS off now we still have Bent, Colunga and Baldrick who can all play up front - enough for me

For what it's worth, I've never rated Darren Bent. I'm hoping that the Championship is his level and he can bag some goals for us. I think the club are taking a calculated gamble. I hope it pays off.

To be fair they needed to do something and he will put a few bums on seats.

Exactly this.

Why have 4 strikers when we only play 1?

With CMS and COG gone, that frees up wages to pay Bent.

Quality not quantity is what's needed.

We have/had too many average players in our squad, and not enough really decent ones.

Last summers transfer window was a bloody disaster.

It could work out to be like Bobby Smith back in the 60's or Robbie Savage in the Withdean days, they were both consider a coup by the club, which are you putting your money on David?

The Scout 7 "predicting the future" function does not work unfortunately, so we will have to wait and see. But "my" part of this deal is now done for now. I am so pleased that you are prepared to acknowledge that the structures at the club have enabled a loan deal such as this, something that would have been very unlikely not that short a time ago. I await with baited breath your fine analysis of this deal once it has been completed.

Well you are due a good signing lets hope for all our sakes it works out. I would hate to be the DOF that was responsible for bringing to the club a squad that set us back years if we were to go down.

Hmmm. Seems to be a fair few signings/loans that have not worked out. To reduce this i reckon we should mainly stick with 'B' players. Like Bennett (Elliott & Joe) Bridge, Buckley, Bridcutt, Bruno and hopefully now Bent.

The emergency loan of Al Habsi was to cover for Stockdale's injury - nothing wrong with that, keepers move for emergency loans fairly regularly. The signing of O'Grady? Well, the debate will rage on as to whether he was wanted by Sami in the first place, or perhaps just didn't show enough in training or on the pitch to warrant a solid run in the team.

Nothing wrong with bringing in a keeper for a month who can't play 1 game as its against his parent club, then misses 2 weeks through international duty, no nothing wrong with that.
Fook me!

You've never rated a guy who's scored 152 goals in 317 starts, mostly in the premiership and has a near enough 1 in 2 ratio at every club he's played for, fair enough.

Completely agree... Who was it that should have looked into this because we surely wouldn't have paid thousands for the 1 game he played if we knew this?

You to me are everything, the sweetest song that I could sing, O'Grady, O'Grady

Every time he gets the ball, I know he's going to score a goal, O'Grady, O'Grady

Or something like that.

I thought it was

You to me are everything , the sweetest song that I could sing , O'Grady , O'Grady
Everytime he gets the ball we know he's going to do **** all , O'Grady , O'Grady.

I thought it was seen, as a time, as a low-cost investment that, if it didn't work out, wasn't the end of the world. I also seem to recall some confusion (because of the timings) leading to people thinking he was Leo's replacement. You never know what might happen - Bent is here to try and get some goals and he could go back and get into the Villa team. Who's to say the same might not happen with COG, and/or CMS.

I'm not saying it will, just putting it out there.

Sdly the (rumoured) £13k a week for OGrady says he is hardly low- cost. Tho only thing low cost was the fee.
