Sounds like the full strength team did alright 2nd half.Does anyone really care that much that we lost. The LDV is the ultimate mickey mouse cup and always will be.
Lets just hope MM found a few things out about the fringe players today, if he did then it was worthwhile losing i suppose. I'd happily swap 20 LDV's for promotion.
The Albion played a second string eleven in the first half, with Leon Knight playing up front by himself. Two careless pieces of defending led, predictably, to two goals. The first from a given away corner, where Ben Roberts was arguably fouled before the ball went in. The second was lobbed neatly over his head after a woefully short backpass.
Brighton rang the changes in the second half, with McPhee, Jones and Hart coming on to make something resembling a first eleven. The impact was good and the Albion suddenly found their form. The game then became controversial, as first Danny Shittu punched the ball away in the area, surely a penalty? No. Then Clarke Carlisle (I'm told) elbowed Leon Knight in the face. Red card? No, just a yellow for the Albion number 7, which left everyone wondering how if the officials didn't see anything how can they book anyone?
Finally the Brighton pressure, prompted by the outstanding Mark Yeates, paid off and Chris McPhee looped the ball over goalkeeper Culkin's head. But that was that, QPR held out - just. Brighton should be confident for the league encounter in a few weeks time.
Also just got back. Poor first half from the lads with fridge players in. How the first goal was allowed to stand In don't know, Roberts palms ball on to bar then is bundled over the line by three QPR players. Second goal bad mistake by Adam.
Didn't see the Leon incident as I was looking up the pitch waiting for the keeper to kick but from what I've heard on the way home Carlisle elbowed Leon and then got away scot free. I'm sure television evidence will clear his name but the Ref lost the game from the first minute.
QPR enjoy the moment January 24th will be different.
