So a chap who averages 30 in FC cricket batting at 5 at the Oval might not be the Messiah?

I think Roy's got the potential to be England's equivalent of Warner (though hopefully a little less prone to stupidity on and off the field). One innings won't make a test batsman. Does look like he's got some work to do, though.

Denly gone.. trapped in front by Adair on a fuller length and with a little nip back.

JL Denly lbw b Adair 23 (28b 4x4 0x6)

36-1

Poor from Roy and Denly at the top of the order :nono:

So, back to square one. Roy is still not suitable as a test opener and Denly isn’t a number 3.

The batting line up is an absolute disgrace.

Good test for Bairstow.

If Root persists with batting at 4, I’d like to see Bairstow not keep wicket and bat at 3, with Butler keeping wicket and batting 7.

Can't wait to see how England manage to collapse embarrassingly before being bailed out by Curran and Woakes this afternoon

Well the first part is sadly accurate. Not quite as easy as predicting a Sussex collapse, but still, worryingly, I don't think anyone is ultra-surprised.

The Ireland test during the day followed by Sussex playing 20/20 in the evening. Wonderful day to have off!

Yeah, if you're a ****ing masochist. Go and do something less stressful and more rewarding, like, I dunno, defusing landmines.
