Why on earth bother with SCR?

As for US having to ring up the club to complain, how come BBC SCR don't have an employee MANDATED to tune in and check the service, EVERY game?

It's basic quaility control, that. And not even having considered that simple failsafe shows just how pathetically amateurish local radio really is.
