Not me, sadly. Had a year off this year, but it remains my favourite race. I'll deffo be back next year (remembering it sells out ridiculously quickly these days). Fair to say the conditions will be *slightly* better than they were in 2018

When you say you don't know which leg you're doing, do you get a choice? If so, go for the first half – it's so much easier. Enjoy

No choice but would prefer the second as I love a proper finish line doesn't look to be too much in it for ascending. God it was hard running into that strong minus 8 Easterly that day!

https://www.strava.com/activities/1459583809 I compared this route profile to dazzer6666 great weekend Stinger run and it's 3096' to his 3097'. If I'd have known I'd have made a 5 step detour uphill!

Just done an hour or so of a plod in London. Perfect conditions, dry and not much breeze beside the river today, and a bit chilly.

Edit, just started raining #timing [emoji23][emoji106]

Yeah, very chilly in Brighton too. But it wasn't quite as character building as Sunday when the sky erupted 1 mile into my 13 miler, I was absolutely saturated within the next half mile and just had to grin and bear it. Come marathon day, it's that type of run which I'll be thinking about. How easy it would have been to mug it off, considering I was starting the run at 10pm having travelled back from Northamptonshire. Sometimes you just need to get outside and get it done.

Interesting you noticed. A few years ago (the first Moyleman in fact) I did the Stinger and Moyleman on consecutive weekends and at the time thought how similar they were............I think I was within a 5 minute margin on finishing times between the two as well. Time does depend on the mud a little bit, Stinger probably a little bit worse in wetter conditions but again not much in it really.

Turns out the Moyleman place was for the full. Shame I was looking forward to that relay team  She declined the marathon and offered the place to me. My heart accepted but my mind told it to be sensible. I’m ready training wise but I want to crack on with BM training and Sussex Road relay 2 miler training.

I’m aiming to not walk any part of my swan song BM.

Free app? Have been using mapmyrun. Probably need to get a watch or fitbit type thing as just been using me phone for podcasts/music while jogging.

Sorry - late to reply to this.

Yes, it's a free app and can track your runs, ie you tap on your phone when you begin your run and then when you end. There are a zillion apps with this funcitonality though - it sounds like you're using mapmyrun for that right now.

Strava is more than that though - it really is THE social network for activity (running, cycling and swimming predominantly) so you tend to follow mates and others you have an interest in, as well as joining clubs/groups, such as the NSC group.

You are then able to give support to others within Strava, when you see what they've been up to, and they can do the same for you.

There are other features too, such as segments (short stretches of runs where you will see how your time compares with others) and regular challenges.

It can become quite addictive!

That sounds good - I'll download it and have a play around.

One thing I like about mapmyrun I am finding motivating is the ability to set myself custom goals and see progress - i.e. run 30 miles from monday 9th - sunday 15th. Do you know if Strava has anything akin to this?

You can set weekly goals, certainly, although I don't personally.

Another thing to add is that you don't have to use Strava to record your runs, you can use something else and then, almost certainly, sync that activity to Strava too.

For example, my primary tracking is done on my Apple Watch which is closely linked with the Health and Activity apps on the iPhone. However, I then sync runs into Strava.

Anyone running outside today (other than Ninja)?

The rain may taper off later, so I'm certainly considering it, if only to dash out for a mile if I've noticed it's stopped.

I would do one of my dog jogs - as I need to walk the dog anyway (and have already been drowned once when out with him) - but with this rain it is so slippery, I just know I will go over and I don't want that.

Otherwise I'll be doing laps of the house to keep my Runstreak going. I do the odd mile or two indoors anyway to get my step count up, but I don't usually push those to Strava!

out running
Cold, very wet and windy on today's lunchtime run. Regents Park was eerily deserted with the exception of some runners and hardy dog walkers. The geese were even more grumpy today. Foul conditions, got absolutely soaked through but loved it and thankful to be able to get out and run.

Me!! I had a 10 mile tempo run scheduled for tomorrow but brought it forward as I wanted an extra day recovery before I take part in the Surrey Half on Sunday.

I got a bit wet...

Got out early doors for six miles when the weather was dry, with a little bit of a breeze. It was delightful, compared with everything since then!

I've ordered some of the Nike CHEATING shoes.

If you can't beat them...

........I'm sure you can beat a lot of them anyway.😀 Welcome on board.
At your level of running it does seem that you have to join them. Yet to wear mine as the one day it hasn't rained this winter was Monday and my rest day.

No PBs to come for me in them but confident I'll get an AG PB, if races continue to be held this year.

I'm getting the Vaporfly 4% rather than the Alphafly, I didn't want to beat EVERYONE, that would have been unfair (plus they were quite a bit cheaper). I'm not fully confident they will fit my slightly wide feet, so there's a chance I'll be sending them back. We shall see.

Obviously I'll want to wear them in Boston. How many miles would you suggest putting in to them before then? I'm very aware they have a short lifespan.
