One advantage with Physio Tim at Corals is that he’s still building his client base and whilst he is busy, he does have gaps in his diary and can usually fit you in within a day or two.

Two SB changes from the weekend. Big one for an injured [MENTION=616]Guinness Boy[/MENTION] 22:48 and a few seconds off for me 20:54 with a little AG increase for third place in the table.
I'll have a sub 20:30 in me once I've sorted out this Achilles morning ache.

How often does it happen that just as you are getting a bit of form back, so the injury goblin pays a call? My close-to-an-SB on Saturday has resulted (exacerbated) in a knee that is not good. Will need to monitor. Apologies for playing the 'age card' but you start to have visions of the bungalow future as stairs become your enemy...…………….

Great pathos. All I can suggest is physio, gym strengthening, limiting full on efforts, stop chasing people 40 years younger on a regular basis and a stannah stair chair.

I am absolutely nowhere at the moment. My head's gone a bit of late, I have no focus or drive right now. I've also got a big toe issue with my right foot, not sure what's caused it but it's hanging around. I'm stuck on 99 parkruns and not sure whether to quietly do 100 to get the milestone out of the way, or hold off and go at it with a bit of pace and try to mark it with a quick time. It doesn't really matter the time, I should just do it and get the 100 shirt but I've not been close to making one since coming back from the States. I hope to climb out of this slump asap, but I won't be at the Worthing 10k.

I have seen my wife's osteopath friend who also does my sports massages before marathons. A quick prod around soon discovered that I have a slightly tight hamstring but the main issue is a torn abductor on the same side. Had a proper massage treatment and been given a stretch for my hamstring and IT band but told not to stretch the abductor and not to run for a week. Assuming I survive a gentle jog on Bank Holiday Monday then Worthing is back on, and I'll be doing it on a mini-taper (for that, read three kilos heavier).

If I remember, I think I decided to try and go for a PB for my 100th (or maybe it was my 200th) and failed miserably, despite the efforts of my two pacers. Contrast that with my 250th, which I just meandered around the course chatting and generally having a laugh (with one of the pacers from the 100/200 and a load of others).

I know how you feel because my running has lost a bit of its direction. The only thing I do regularly is my Monday morning fast lap (time is still coming down though) – the rest of the week is a lottery (apart from the marathon the other weekend). It happens, but then we always bounce back from it. Hang in there, look after your toe and get that parkrun done... :thumbsup:

Good news on the tender achilles. I was working above the ankle but the problem seems to be the foot. Have worked on toe crunching, pulling and strethching the foot this way and that and rolling the knobbly roller underfoot. Massive improvement. The cause must have been the switch from heel foot strike to toe foot strike once the marathon was out the way.

Hey guys, Hackney Half for me last Sunday. Really great race with awesome crowds. I took an extended break post Manchester Marathon and haven't been doing much running so didn't have a target in mind. Super happy to have sneaked under 80 mins with a 1:18:48. Definitely felt a drop in fitness but it was great fun. I have the Vitality 10k in London on Monday. Not expecting a lot but should be fun. I haven't raced a 10k for a couple of years now (I think it's my least favourite distance) so should be interesting. :)

Thanks mate! Yep, definitely in the NSC camp that fear the 10k's. I usually keep away but thought I'd have a crack without putting too much pressure around it. All good practice I guess.

Sorry to hear you're not feeling it at the moment. Hang in there, I'm sure it will pass and you'll be back on it soon!

For those that are not already bored of me banging on about slowing down in training to improve, maintain consistency reduce injury risk and get faster, if you have the time, I'd recommend watching this interview with a rapid guy called Jonathan Walton.

I'm a big advocate of slowing down with your running and since leaning towards this method last year (easy-paced miles to increase frequency and volume with just a sprinkle of high intensity workouts) it's worked for me, but it's a game of patience. The main bit starts around 7 mins in.

Many of you will know my feelings about 10k runs, so I was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed a medium-paced one this morning. Didn't intend on doing so, but sub-8s all the way and only the last little bit had me flagging. Beautiful morning for it – sunshine all around Shoreham Airport and Beach.

If it helps, [MENTION=13055]Ninja Elephant[/MENTION], it seemed to re-focus my running mind – just in a 10k. I think it was because I wasn't as out of shape as I thought I was...
