Good luck to everyone running this weekend. Unfortunately no Brighton half for me in the end, still injured but getting better. No point in doing it and making the problem worse. Will be back next year though (hopefully). Enjoy it and wrap up warm!

I've been laid low with a chest infection and only been to the docs today when I got some antibiotics. Not run since a week past Sunday when I did a (very slow) 10k as I was coughing and spluttering then. I was assuming I'd be well past it by now and raring to go for the Brighton Half.

Anyway I'm coming down on Saturday and my brother has got me a ticket for the Swansea game so even if I can't run on Sunday it's not been a total waste of time! Will be gutted if I can't do the run though.

P.S. Looks like it's going to be a cold one!

If you can I am meeting Mr Blobby at the Brighton end of the baggage truck before hand. Not sure of the exact time as we're going to sort that out at the match tomorrow - the mate I go with is also now running and going to try and pace me to 1.55. We'll probably get there quite early as I remember from the last 2 years that the baggage truck is a very long walk from the start and has huge queues. It's going to be that cold I reckon pretty much everyone will be stashing gear. I'll have the blue home shorts from this season on, a warm sweatshirt, wooly hat and my bright blue Saucony shoes.

Good luck for Sunday all you Half Marathoners. Sounds like it's going to be a bit colder than usual. For me that's perfect running weather!

They wouldn't happen to be the Hurricane v3 trainers would they? Just got myself some today (half price now v4 is out and bright blue) and am intrigued to see if I notice any difference versus v2 (which I have completely ruined) when I next go out... most likely it's all just a gimmick but I do like Saucony all the same when it comes to running shoes.

They're Guide ISOs. An upgrade on Guide 9s which have been my last 2 pairs. I love Saucony, they're exactly the right balance between comfort and speed for me as I need a bit of support. I am going for a total blue and white look tomorrow so we'd better blooming well win today!

Off the mark for the year with a sniffly, jetlagged 21:09 (70.29% AG) at Hove Prom this morning - on the plus side, first in age cat for the first time ever [emoji23][emoji23]

Good luck to the Brighton halfers tomorrow- weather this morning was fine. Easterly not much more than a breeze so shouldn’t be too draining as long as it doesn’t pick up any more. Not as cold as expected either.....was borderline overdressed with a baselayer and tee shirt this morning, and took my gloves off after a mile.

Good luck tomorrow everyone- looking forward to hearing the stories.
You think it’s cold - I’m away skiing and it’s going to be -20 in the next couple of days!

I switched from Brooks to Saucony shoes last year and haven't regretted it. I tried the Guide and Ride 10s, but ended up going for the Rides. So comfortable and the right level of support for me.

It's a key decision to pick the right coloured shoes for race day. You've got to look the part.
