Photographic evidence of at least one NSC Runner in Peacehaven Parkrun report plus two others in Brighton shirts - are you on here?

Finally a moment of glory to nurse his wounds for Gary Nelson's teacher - the NEW and UNDEFEATED Peacehaven Parkrun AGV record holder. Has the phrase 'Pride before a Fall' ever been more appropriate? Get Better Soon.

Cracked out an 8.5 miler along the Thames on Saturday for the first serious run in months after back and ankle niggles.

Aiming to do likewise this Saturday but fearful of the suggested heat - could be up to 28/30 degrees by then.

Any hot weather training tips (other than don't run between 12-2pm)?

Good stuff

Hydrate well, before and during.
Manage your pace - you need to go slower than you would in cooler conditions. Run by effort (or heart Rate) rather than time
Wear a cap, sunglasses and also worth trying a wet bandana/snood loose around your neck (ultra tip 👍). The cooling effect on the back of the neck works well (you can also use a jaycloth)

On NSC for over two decades...
Gah! I want to run!

My glute is still a little tight so instead of my usual Monday long run I went out on the bike instead - which I've done several times over the last week, as well as going for a swim. Hopefully I can run again on Wednesday, and that the cross-training is enough to keep me ticking over...

I feel your pain. First run on Saturday after 2 weeks on a cross trainer with a view of the gyms car park. Was back on it today as still a bit sore but hopefully my car park days are coming to an end. I now recognise most of the m3/a4/jaguar xf drivers who feel the need to park in the disabled bays next to the entrance so we can all watch them getting in and out of their shiny cars.
I love the gym

Nice one. I'm not anti gyms as such but sometimes run past the local David Lloyd (with a full car park) and wonder how many of the customers could keep up with me. (Answer - at the moment all of them as I'm crocked, but you get the point.)

Been checking on the internet as assumed my heel pain was Plantar fasciiti but it seems this affects the bottom of the heel and mine is at the back. I'm guessing it's an Achilles issue probably from the initial hill start to my run. Have put ice on to reduce the swelling but has anyone any experience or advice on how best to move forward on this or will a good rest be enough to overcome it.

Sunday I did the very enjoyable Horsham 10k for the third year running. Not a flat course so I was delighted to get a new PB of 51.01 (previous PB was 51.06 and previous Horsham PB was 54.28) so delighted with how it went. Lindfield cross country on Bank Holiday Monday then my next attempt at a sub 50 10k at Worthing on the 4th June.

Anyone at the Bognor 10k. It was so hot! 49min 15 seconds so beat last year by 22 seconds. No where near personal best of 48m 22 set couple years back. I think I must aim for under 50 minutes each year now cos I just had nothing in me to beat PB and each year reminds me I am not getting younger. Great 10k though, well supported and you will struggle to find a flatter course.

If it doesn't clear up after a few more days rest maybe it needs to be looked at. When Jesus was recommended he is a sports injury specialist in Hove, too far for you but you should have someone nearby.
I've had this problem since January and can't get to the bottom of it as it involves an arthritic tendonitis. If your calves are tight it's muscular and should be simply stretching them or waiting and you'll be ok. If calves are loose then it is possibly in the tendons, which is my problem area and more problematic.
One visit to a sports injury clinic will at least give you the stretches you need even if they don't fix it there and then. Good luck and welcome to the runner's injury frustration!

Most skip leg day and look like the hulk up top and then an anorexic chicken below so I think you'll be fine and they will resemble an asthmatic ant.

Check my solution on post #9221 it genuinely worked for me at a time when even a brisk jog of say a mile left me super frustrated and unable to do anything for at least three days.

Had me back running in ten days and now I do the exercises at the first sign of any discomfort.

Did you get some proper trainers sorted? When I first started I had normal trainers but when I switched to running shoes, it sorted out the problems I had almost straight away!

Well done. I remember doing Bognor when huge waves were crashing over us on the back half of the race. And another time when both my calves went after 5k. Agony. So no more Bognor for me. And if you ever do their Parkrun beware - flat but one of the slowest courses around........... and not PB territory.

Thanks that looks good and have saved the text for future reference. As it's both legs at the moment I will wait until they have calmed down although the left is a lot worse than the right
