Hi All - will be in Sussex for Easter weekend.
Am planning on giving Uckfield Parkrun a whirl, but are there any other trail runs in Sussex I should be aware of, please?

Thanks knocky1. What order is the table in, now? If it’s 2022 AG, it doesn’t look quite right (at least in the part of the table I’m interested in 🙂)

You're right there. Apologies it's just a coincidence it's in my favour.

Bloody Worthing!
Whilst waiting I'll post about the greatest Parkrun team I have ever met (apart from Bob! of course). It was on the freezing banks of the Seine in Rouen on Saturday. Everyone came up and introduced themselves and told us about "The Ice Doctor" who helps put on the run. He is a real Doctor and in the Guiness Book of Records for his 1 mile swims in 2 degree seas in the Arctic and doing Ice Triathlons.

The run started and I settled in behind the Ice Doctor knowing from the previous results I'm a minute behind him on current form and to let him go. At half way I was comfortably second but was given a surprise at mile 2 when the Irishman, an ultra runner, popped up alongside me. We had a nice battle for the last mile and I needed full effort to see him off by 10 seconds.

The downside was a 22:57 time that means I'm going backwards to a month ago and have lost my ability to kick to the finish. Just need to stick at the training I guess.

So I highly recommend Rouen https://www.parkrun.fr/rouen/ and for soistes there is a great campervan stopover at the Marina nearby with facilities where I met the Irishman and his wife.

Well done, mate. Not quite Agincourt revisited but a decent result. Never got my result from the Bournemouth 5k - faulty chip (but the one on my shoulder worked fine). A little bit miffed as I beat the 'VM60 winner' by a good 4 minutes. Oh well - at least he went home a happy bunny. Hammie playing up again but probably because I put in a shift on the allotment.

That faulty chip thing happened to me once and in true Park Run spirit I turned into a “Running bell cheese” and hounded the organisers explaining my finishing place, watch time, etc, etc until my time and position were instated. Good job it’s only a fun run!!

I hope I’ve mellowed a bit since then 🤔

Exactly! I could catch the Ice Doctor when on form. Maybe they'll add my loss to the Bayeux Tapestry.
Fantastic welcome from the team in Rouen, seemed to think we were William the Conqueror's family passing by to say hello.

They obviously received and acted on the email I sent in advance of your appearance mentioning your youthful exploits which resulted in taking Steve Ovett's record!

Is anyone doing Boston this year? It's nice to see it back in its usual spot of April and excited for the buzz in the city.

I ran some of the route a few weeks ago when people were doing their last long run! - Heartbreak hill felt just as bad.

It reminded me of 2021 when the self-proclaimed "fastest downhill running in the world" led for 20 miles of the race and then crashed on the hills. I liked the strategy though: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-marathon/2021/10/11/2021-boston-marathon-cj-albertson/

Is anyone doing Brighton Marathon on Sunday?

Give me a wave at Roedean water station (7.5 miles) if you are. I’ll be the one with a radio (and panicked expression).

Worthing parkrun and a little bit cautious in my approach with the suspect hamstring, especially as this started to play up from the start line. However, it got no worse and I ended up with a 20.54.
The highlight was not so much the time as a victory over the excellent Paul Whelpton, who even in the 65+ category can dip under 19 mins (!) with a 90% AG. A quick chat at the end revealed that he was coming back from injury - so not really a 'victory' at all.

All the best to everyone running today.

I completely exceeded my expectations in the 10k with 37:43! I thought I’d head out at 38 pace and see how well I could hold on, but was fully expecting that tactic would backfire spectacularly and I’d fail to get under 40.

There was a couple of short hills, with people wondering if they were really needed and whether turn around points elsewhere were moved. Conditions were pretty perfect though, what a lovely day.
