Not at all, primarily as I eat and drink like an utter pig. Some weight lost, but still a long way to go!

Fantastic. Nice one [MENTION=338]smudge[/MENTION].So I finished the target I set myself for July, to run a minimum of 10k a day every day for the month. Managed to clock up 340k in the end. Some nights were hard after a long day's work, but well chuffed that I completed it.
The Newick looks a good 10k. I'll make a note of it and come and cheer him on.......
From all my concentrated effort at 5k and 10k this last 2 months I would run the 5k at planned 10k pace with a sprint finish. Then spend Tuesdays and Thursdays on interval work but not exceeding the pace you need to beat him, which is your target pace. Then your Sunday long run which has cost me as can't fit them in.

Thanks for the advice, I do feel I've slipped into running at a comfortable pace without pushing myself lately. Tried to change that today with a quicker 5k and felt good to burn the lungs up a bit. I only have to make up a minute so should be achievable. If Eastbourne goes well I'll come and join you for your sub 20 attempt.
Sub 20 is cancelled. I'm in need of recovery weeks for my unachievable aim. Join us for the run anyway but I need to sit back a bit. We could run at 10k pace and race the last half mile? That would be a good session. You have to get Ben to turn up as well.
We'll all be beer heavy from Forest.
I am going to run Eastbourne park run on Saturday. I've never entered a park run before mainly due to the timing but I have stupidly told my 21 year old nephew I will beat him at Newick 10 k on the 28th. Thought a few competitive 5k's would help the cause. He's beaten me for the last 3 years and runs like a hunted Gazelle
Woo-hoo! I've finally gone sub-20 for 'estimated' 5k on Strava, it's bugged me for ages that that little stat was missing despite the fact I run parkrun sub-20 on a regular basis these days. All the panting like something from the soundtrack of one of El Pres' 'specialist' feature films was worth the effort!
What Strava stats is everyone else drawn to/determined to beat?
Luckily for me Strava has my 5k at Hasting's 6 seconds faster than officially run and the Phoenix 10k was just over distance (most NSC AC measured it over) and is 9 seconds better than the race result.
On the other hand it ignores my Hasting's Half Marathon time this year and puts me 12 minutes down. Won't attack that till 2017.
**** Strava though. I'm chasing downwards from 20:19 at 5k. Bit like Craig Mackail Smith. Loads of running but failing to hit the target. Just wait for this throaty, head cold to go and I'll get back to work.
I always treat the Strava estimates as just that, estimates, as there are lots of reasons why they can be inaccurate. For instance my chip time for the Surrey Half this year was 1:30:06, but Strava had me down with an estimated best for the half at the same event as 1:29:51; similarly my best estimate for 10k is about 45 seconds slower than my actual pb. Basically, Strava can be all over the shop!
I don't get too hung up on average/estimate times to be honest – Strava, Nike+, Garmin, wherever. I tend to just look at each run on it's own, and maybe compare similar runs. I haven't been out this week, but did over a mile and a bit in sprints at bootcamp this morning. Dropped about half a stone this week too, purely by just not eating rubbish!
Easy little run and bootcamp tomorrow, then back to Worthing I think, given that HP is likely to be mobbed.
Had 5 days off running and I finally feel full of energy again. No Parkrun for me tomorrow, however, as apparently I am going to a flower show at Glynde. So [MENTION=26634]Simgull[/MENTION] I will not be camping near Tilgate nor doing that Parkrun.
Will be looking forward to visiting the unusual gem of Glynde and Beddingham outdoor unheated pool, which has a rare open day to non memebers.
10k track race in 42:30 yesterday. Pathetic. Kept up with the 42 pacer until around two-thirds through, when he informed me he was a pacer and I promptly gave up. I have zero mental resilience and determination.
You can't have quit too badly if you only finished 30 seconds behind him!
