I (try to) use my Garmin to run slower than I would like to, at the pace required and over the distance for that training session. Very boring but adrenaline flows for any scheduled races.

That's one of the things I'm looking to get from it. I'm keen to master negative splits (looking towards '16 marathons), but I ALWAYS go off too quickly. I'm hoping that a Garmin will teach me to slow down, and keep to the required pace...

We'll see!

Went out at 6am Mexican time saw a lovely sun rise at the start of my 11 mile run this morning. I must be getting attuned to the temperatures as the 11 miles was done at an average of 7:55 pace with temperatures at 25 degrees at sunrise.

Got through 37 miles this week across 4 runs spanning 9 days so much more than I would have done at home. Hopefully it's kept my weight off to as I've eat ridiculous amounts all trip.

Planning a decent sized run Sunday then lots of smaller runs to tick over before Sunday week.

Good luck tomorrow. What time are runners expected on Dyke/ Truleigh Hill area? May be walking with the wife and the lemon beagle after parkrun.

Cheers, crapping myself. A bit. Race starts at 9 at Hill Barn, so leaders will be at Truleigh soon after 10, with the likes of me more like 11-11.30 I guess (Botolphs layby is about 11 miles in). Suspect course record will go tomorrow (currently 6.11........)

50 miles of South Downs Way 6 hours 11 mins. Ridiculous. I have walked the whole way 3 times and it is incredibly up and down for a ridge walk. 2 days from Washington to Eastbourne not within a day let alone 6:11.

I have decided to use your run as a boost for the Brighton marathon and when (hopefully) I get to 20 miles in 2 hours 51 I will think thank **** it's only 6.2 miles and not 32.4 miles with hills.

Enjoy!

Cheers fellas.....

Re the course record, I think last year's 100 was even more remarkable - 14.03. That's sub 8.30 min miles for 14 hours over the Downs. Or 33 consecutive 25 min parkruns. Insane. I shall plod along towards the back and hope to beat the cutoff........

Great effort. You will be able to smash that next time, if you have a westerly. I was up at the Dyke and a steady North East wind was blowing. The field gets stretched apart. How good are refreshments?

I am not committing for next year looks too much like hard work to me.........but then again......

Thanks....wind definitely didn't help but overall not too bad. Centurion running events are legendary - they have a waiting list for aid station volunteers and a lot of effort goes into the stations. You could probably put weight on during the race....sandwiches, wraps, other savoury snacks, biscuits, sweets & chocolate, hot drinks in places.........I carried no food of my own, simply no need as long as you've practiced eating a variety of things in training. The organisation of the event is faultless.

Just got home. Over the bloody moon to have finished in 9.51. We won't talk about the winner's 5.53 because it's not human

Really well done, that is great effort for that distance and course... certainly puts a Saturday Park Run 5k in perspective!

All I can say is having done a quick 40 minutes along the front with about 100 others today (accidentally, EVERYONE was out for a run) is PLEASE let the weather be exactly like this in a week. No wind, wee bit of sun but can't have been more than 12 or 13 degrees,

Went out today to do a gentle lap of my 3.8m loop. After yesterday's record 5km triumph/wind-battling combo I was intending to take it very easy.

As it turned out, I had no choice, my legs were very heavy including a painful left lower shin.

I'm taking it as a sign I've been over-doing it slightly and could probably do with a few days rest. I had loosely set my sights on running further than I ever have before on Sunday, possibly up to half-marathon distance so I might have to revise that.

I should listen to myself. My legs were still sore this morning but I went out anyway.

The resultant 13.2 miles I did is my furthest by some margin and Strava says I completed my first ever half marathon distance in 2:07:09.

I had nothing to eat or drink en route - I need to find a way to deal with that problem.

Possibly quicker as a half is only 13.1 miles!

That is outstanding stuff. A chap from work did it too. I'm not sure of his time but I've seen him tweet his feet are an absolute mess.

Great stuff. Well done!!

Sub 6 hours is crazy though, there will be a fair number who do the marathon next week in more than that!

First race of the year!!! Trowes 10k.
Situated in the outskirts of Norwich at the ski centre. Apparently 700 entries this year. Basically a 2k run to the willingham county park and back then 4k loop twice round the ski centre incorporating a kilometre climb though the centre of Trowes which on the 2nd loop found me out losing a good 40 seconds.felt comfortable throughout the race although I was working hard and pleased to run under 40 minutes in 39.45 and bodes well for the future.
