I would like to congratulate the morons who complained about Harty & Hawsey on this board, you have contributed to the closure of our only phone.

Again thank you, I hope you are happy with yourself. I very much doubt we will ever get this back now.

And nobody has ever complained about Harty's comments on here before yeah?

Just out of interest, the BBC did a survey in 2003 which released a whole new vocabulary onto an unsuspecting public...
Worst Words

That is interesting. I can honestly say until this week I had never heard of the phrase "window licker".

The really strange thing about that list is that disabled people do not like the term "special". Why? We have Special Needs Teachers, Special Learning Requirements, Seagulls Specials, etc etc, surely that is better than the phrase in my day which was "handicapped"

That word seems fairly innocuous even now, when you compare it to 'invalid'. That was a commonly used word that no-one really thought twice about using.
It's intimation is that a disabled person is not valid, which is horrendous.

There has to be some feeling of sensitivity for someone who has lost a limb, say, and their new association with those with mental issues - as they are under the indiscriminate heading of 'disabled'.

For someone to have a syndrome related to mental illness, also invites misunderstanding. A person who has loss of physical control has not necessarily lost their mental faculties of understanding and relating.
