Mariota to Washington
Quite surprised by this. Was a huge fan of Mariota in college as I am a Ducks fan, he was exceptional for Oregon. However even I can acknowledge his NFL career has been underwhelming to say the least. As a cheap one year vet contract I don't really have strong feelings on this signing one way or another as he will be backing up with Drake Mate or Jayden Daniels.

Very happy with our business in FA so far. Mostly sensible picks that upgrade the team (not that difficult) without breaking the bank.

Giants have signed Drew Lock….

I’ll take that, anyone but Daniel Jones…..

Now draft a promising youngster, and cut Jones next season.

Surprised but actually quite like this trade. Think Howell showed some good potential last season. He's on a cheap rookie contract for next two years and we didn't actually give up any picks, just moved down from mid 3rd to top of 4th round.

Aaron Donald announced his retirement. Congrats on an amazing career. One of if not the greatest DT I've seen.

Always liked and respected him as a player but ofc as a fan of rival team hated watching him manhandling our OL and going after Wilson/Geno over past decade.

Pretty sure most QBs and offensive linemen in the league will sleep better tonight knowing they won't have to deal with him anymore. :)

I still think Wilson has some gas left in the tank and Fields has shown glimpses of what he can do. This gives him another year or two to develop without much pressure. As a Browns fan, Im more worried about a QB room that has Wilson, Fields, + A. Nother, than Rudolph, Pickett, and Trubisky. With their defense still playing strong, the Steelers could have a pretty decent offense to back them up this season.

Quite honestly, I would prefer Wilson & Fields on our roster than Watson & Winston tbh.

Something that happened last week and wasn't mentioned here yet but could have big implications in weeks/days leading up to the draft.

Minnesota have obtained their second 1st round pick from the Texans and plan a move into top 5 (probably #4 with the Cardinals who are willing to trade down) to get a QB after losing Cousins.

BTW @bhafc99 what do you think about Seattle's offseason so far. Personally don't really have any complaints. Like that we've kept Leonard Williams and defensive FA signings like Jerome Baker, Tyrel Dodson, Rayshawn Jenkins and the latest one Johnathan Hankins all seem like solid if unspectacular players handpicked by Mike Macdonald and his new staff who should fit into a new system and contribute. Besides Jenkins who has signed a 2-year contract others are all on one year deals IIRC which give us a chance to evaluate how they will do before deciding to commit to any of them longer term and at the same time also gives incentives to the players to give their best in their "contract years" while we'll focus on building through the draft and develop our own players.

Could be too optimistic but I believe if the season would start tomorrow with these additions and a better defensive scheme we would be closer to a league average than a bottom 3-5 defense in the league in most important defensive stats. And I'm sure we'll come out of draft with one or two defensive difference makers as well.

On offense I can get behind the Sam Howell trade. Worst case scenario he's a very cheap backup with a full year of starting experience (and same age or younger than some of the QBs in this draft class) still under contract for two years. Best case he learns few thing sitting behind Geno for a season and we can unlock his full potential and he becomes at least a serviceable starter (like Geno over last two years) until we find someone better. Still won't rule us out drafting a QB if the draft would fall the right way but less likely. For all we know 5 or even 6 QBs could be gone before we'll make our first pick at #16 (pretty sure top 4 picks will all be QBs and then NYG and DEN could draft one too - I'm assuming here that the Vikings will trade to #4 as said in previous post). Trade down is something I would seriously consider too.

Like that we've brought back Noah Fant and Pharaoh Brown is a blocking TE who should complement Fant well. George Fant is a good swing tackle and could be useful especially if Abe Lucas's knee problems won't go away. There were also some reports we are considering moving Lucas inside (playing Fant at RT or potentially draft someone to play there) to ease the pressure on his knee. Anyway, expect us to draft one or two OLs but probably not a 1st round OG given John Schneider's recent comments about how "overpaid and overdrafted" OG position has become. Maybe he was just trying to mislead people and hiding our intentions before the draft though.

Besides OG and maybe depth on ILB I feel we are pretty well set on most positions going into the draft and can again draft BPA (over drafting for needs) that worked very good in last two drafts.

WTH is wrong with these players?

Police in Florida have been searching for Detroit Lions cornerback Cameron Sutton for about two weeks after an arrest warrant was issued over his alleged involvement in a domestic violence case.

Sutton is facing a charge of domestic battery by strangulation, a third-degree felony punishable by up to five years in prison.

Meanwhile he was already released by Detroit.

The first 3 words quoted would suggest we know exactly 'what is wrong with these players'.

Rees-Zammit has signed with the Chiefs. Can’t help but feel it’s more of a PR exercise than a credible recruit.
Three year deal with 'some' guaranteed money. Even if that is very low for the NFL, still probably a lot more than he would be earning if he was still egg chasing
