Strange - I have always found the selection of lager type beers in there okay but I guess it depends on what they have in at the time. I don't like hoppy ales but do like a lot of fruity / sour beers so maybe your wife might like to try them instead.

No she wants a lager.......... A Pils... a Kolne... a Hellles... a Bock... Maybe a Marzen. A bottom fermented beer served carbonated and through a chiller and not a top fermented beer imitating a lager served from a cask. She knows all about saisons and guezes and don't even go there. Besides she doesn't want a bottled beer.
And that is why we go to The Selden.

Reigniting this thread.

Went to the Craft Beer Co on Upper North Street last night. Very impressed. Must of had near on 30 options on tap and maybe the same in bottles in fridges. Liked the decor too and good location. Near enough to town but hidden enough to keep the riff-raff out.

Highly recommend.

And I thought I was fussy! Why not send her off to 'Spoons for a draft Kozel and I'll join you for drinks at Brooksteed instead

I can't bring myself to drink 'cooking lager' these days (I'd rather have a soft drink than the likes of Carling) as it tastes crap and so many place fail to keep it properly. I am happy to have a decent bottle or can these days.

Hartleys are on our hitlist but we've been virtually wiped out of stock far quicker than expected so can't take on new customers until the new brews are ready in 4 weeks or so.
A good problem to have, mind you.
I guess Quaff or The Joker are the nearest to there.

Our friends at Arundel Brewery will also be there. They're taking over the casks with a couple of exciting new ones unleashed that evening.

If it was Carling or Fosters, trust me she would drink a red wine. When we went to Berlin she was in her element with the choice of 6 or 7 and I enjoyed nearly all of them.
A pub that opens at 5.30, doesn't sell a 'lager' and shuts at 9.30 and wins pub of the year in Worthing. Haha.

When We went to the Blind Beggar in NY, I had to order a pint of Bud light with a Sprite top for my mate. I apologised for my mate being a wanker. The barman replied ,"hey we don't use that word in here.......................its jerk off you mean"

To Øl Mr Orange. Imperial IPA infused with clementine, tangerine and grapefruit. Weighs in at just over 7%. Delicious.

There is a good new beer shop in Burgess Hill called Ninkasi. It is on Church Road where the old pet shop used to be. Good selection of beers from small breweries across the UK and a few international ones including plenty of different beer styles. Only limited shelf space but the owners tell me that they plan to buy small amounts of different beers and rotate the stock regularly. Not quite the variety of Trafalgar Wines but better than anywhere else in the area and worth supporting if you like your craft beer.

Brilliant isn't it. I believe he is opening another one by West Worthing station in the old bakery. Being fitted out at the moment

The Green Man opened at the weekend. The guy has made the furniture himself so you have high picnic style benches which maximise the seating space in such a small place. We went on Saturday and his beer selection is limited. If you don't like standard ale or bottled cider then it isn't for you. I ended up with a glass of red wine before we moved up to Brooksteed, Also, it appears to be frequented by Morris dancers.

Hopefully his range will improve as he settles in - it doesn't take much to add a variety of bottles to the shelf / fridge and widen your audience. Will try again in a few weeks time and hope it works out as he seems a nice guy.

Took a pilgrimage out to Stone Brewing's World Bistro and Gardens last night. A stunning complex with equally stunning beers.

Started off with an unfiltered dry hopped (Ariana Hops) Stone IPA. An odd looking beer as it was light and opaque but tasted great.
Then
Stone 20th Anniversary Beachwood Heretic Still Unapologetic IPA
Stone Matts "Burning Rosids" Imperial Cherry Wood Smoked Saison
Juli Goldenburg Monkey Paw Stone 24 Carrot Golden Ale
and finished with a cheeky 2016 Drew Curtis/Will Wheaton/Greg Koch Stone Farking Wheaton w00tstout Imperial Stout.

Added duck tacos, cheese and sausage board and a jalapeño cheese cake for nibbles.
