I have waited so damn long for this season to start (well feels like it anyway). Predicting a score draw, hope for a 'flairtastic' win start but we'll see!

No stats no badges, can it even be a six star game? still nice to have it back, it should be heralded with trumpets :vuvu:
That's not a trumpet, it's a vuvuzela!
We need more vuvuzelas....why wasn't that brought up at the fans forum? Can they be used to keep people in time for GOSBTS?

They may drown out the sound of fast, out of time clapping from those fans who are not perfect?

Leeds' three summer signings, Luke Murphy, Noel Hunt and Matt Smith, are all expected to be included in the squad for Saturday's Sky Bet Championship opener against Brighton.

Midfielder Murphy, a £1million signing from Crewe, and former Reading striker Hunt are expected to start at Elland Road, with 6ft 6in forward Smith, recruited from Oldham, among the substitutes.

Teenage defender Sam Byram will play no part as he is still recovering from a hip problem which affected him late last season.

Striker El-Hadji Diouf, who continues to play catch-up with his fitness, is suspended anyway along with Jamaica international Rudy Austin following their dismissals against the Seagulls in last season's final home game.

David Lopez, meanwhile, is set to feature for Brighton.

Despite only playing 45 minutes in a 1-1 draw with Norwich during pre-season, the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder, who signed a new one-year deal this week, could be in contention to start.

Manager Oscar Garcia has no fresh injury concerns for his first league game in charge as striker Craig Mackail-Smith continues his rehabilitation from an ankle injury which could keep him out until September.

New signing Adam Chicksen may be considered after the left-back joined on a three-year deal from MK Dons during the summer.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head
• Brighton are unbeaten in five Championship and League One meetings with Leeds (won two, drawn three).
• Leeds, who last beat the Seagulls at home in October 2008, lost last season's corresponding fixture 2-1 as they finished with nine men, and Brighton 10.
• The first goal will be the 100th in competitive matches between the clubs.
Leeds United
• Leeds are beginning their fourth successive Championship campaign, and 10th outside the Premier League.
• The Whites have won their first league game in all-but two of the last nine seasons, and have scored on the opening day in the last 13.
• Brian McDermott is beginning his first full season in charge at Elland Road.
Brighton & Hove Albion
• Former Barcelona midfielder Oscar Garcia starts life as Brighton head coach; one of four managerial debuts in the Championship this weekend.
• The Seagulls ended the 2012-13 regular season on a three-match winning run and nine-match unbeaten sequence, before losing to Crystal Palace in the play-off semi-finals.
• They lost 1-0 away to Hull on the opening day of last season, but then went on to pick up 16 points from the next 18 available.

We've got a good (recent) record at Elland Road so going for a 2 - 0 to the mighty Seagulls today Orlandi and Ulloa, come on the Albion!

From the Arsegas:

Albion's head coach Oscar Garcia is happy to bring on the big guns of the Championship.

The Spaniard says he is motivated by challenges like today’s opening test at Leeds United and that is part of the reason he came to England.

The Seagulls are surrounded in the second tier by clubs with a top flight pedigree but the bigger the test the better Oscar likes it.

The former Barcelona player, preparing for his competitive debut in English football, told The Argus: “I am excited to start the League and, if we have to start away, Leeds is an amazing stadium with amazing fans. It’s a big club and I want to play against as many big clubs as possible.

“It’s not only Leeds. In the Championship there are many big teams who have played in the Premier League. This is one of the reasons I came here, to play against big teams.”

A 33,000 crowd is expected at Elland Road to launch Leeds’ first full season with ex-Reading boss Brian McDermott in charge.

Oscar has called on his players to be bravehearts in what is sure to be a feverish and hostile atmosphere.

He said: “It’s always a difficult game when you play there, with their crowd, but we will go there with personality.

“I want brave players to play there, because if we are not brave we will have difficulty winning the game.”

Oscar still wants to add to his squad before the transfer window shuts on September 2.

He has not specified positions but a loan striker could be an option, with Craig Mackail-Smith (Achilles) expecting to be out until the start of October and the future of Will Hoskins under a cloud after a major setback in his recovery from knee ligament surgery.

Oscar said of Hoskins: “We mustn’t put pressure on him. He has to recover 100 per cent and then start to train. He has to take time to recover totally, because it was a bad injury.”
