Come off it mate, it happens every game

yeah I know, which means there should be more penos! notice the NZ guy did'nt complain about it at all, he knew he did wrong. Besides if that was Heskey getting pulled everyone would be screaming for a peno!

We need to stop this soft shit. Yes he was briefly holding the guys shirt. That didn't impede the player who only fell over when it was obvious that the ball was going over his head. That sort of challenge happens in every game across the world and if that is now a penalty then football has a very poor future. We should start sending players off for diving. Its cheating, pure and simple. We get worked up about the 'Hand of God' but diving to get a penalty is no different! :tantrum: :tantrum: :tantrum:

Perhaps the referee saw a replay of the NZ goal on one of the big screens, realised it was offside, and thought he'd even it up.

It was a penalty. Just most refs are too scared to give them.

We'll we're getting generous ones as well now. This ref is whistle happy.

But yes we are rubbish, we rely on our physical presence, we cant pass the ball out of our half and rely on our target men who can't do their job at the moment when every contact is getting called.

I disagree that it would be a poor future... if we stamp out the niggly and stupid shirt pulling and 'professional' fouls, by free kicks and bookings... then I think football would be a better spectacle.

The same applies to diving... and I would go as far to say that the free kick should not be awarded if the player over-reacts like that, and he should be booked. That too would be an improvement.

But on the whole, I think the WC refs have allowed a lot of robust and physical play, and have penalised the cynical stuff pretty well.

All Im saying is if that is to be considered a foul, there should be a penalty given during every corner/free kick in every single game. The Italians would have gone mental if that was given against them as their defending is often 'Robust' to say the least yet they cry bloody murder why the poor little strikers get a tug on their shirt. These are strong, athletic men who should be able to deal with that sort of thing, not fall over like there's a sniper in the crowd.
