Official Match Thread ****Crystal Palace -V- Brighton and Hove Albion****

This is indeed a Brighton forum and the reason I come on it is because some of the stuff you have on it is quality plus a bit of banter is always fun. I may not support Brighton but I used to live in Preston Park (no, not in a caravan in the actual park, I maybe from Croydon but I'm not a chav), used to work outta Shoreham and was at Sussex Uni part-time. Brighton is a great town, just a shame about the football club...

Aww I was going to comment on how much of a decent palace supporter you seemed...bit saying 'shame on your football club' makes you appear as a massive ****. Sorry :) you're probably a great guy. Croydon is well wank though :D xxx

Palace fans: well done your team won three goals to nil. The first should have been s goal kick so who knows what would have happened if the ref was competent.

Afterwards yes you won two MORE penalties. I fear your reliance on diving may come to a sad end at some point when everyone finds you out.

Perhaps if your fans were a bit less backwards, a bit less full of pompous, arrogant shit, we'd treat you with more respect. As it stands a majority of the supporters of your cheating, scummy football club act pathetically smug despite the clear acts of your disgusting club.

I know you best us and it was a clear victory. I'm not taking that away from you, but over the season and last, I know who i would rather support.

I know it is not the repugnant, wank-stained, pile-of-shit club you support. Thank you and goodnight. Enjoy your win, though I think I'll be happier come the end if the season...

Will you when zaha and Murray leave you in the summer? I suspect you will. Enjoy it while it lasts, you are losing money and your esteemed board need to get some in! So zaha and Murray will go as zaha will wish to better himself and the club want to cash in. Murray will have a year left on his contract and then club need to cash in! So bye bye to both and anyone else that is worth a bob or two.
Obviously you'll consider that a better proposition than being a Brighton fan who'll have to suffer the indignity of sitting in a state of the art stadium, looking forward to the young prospects coming that will start to come through the £15m academy that wil be due for completion, with a chairman who has proven his desire to invest long term in the club. A pisser isn't it.

Long term ...... You're f*cked! You poor bastards just do
Know it yet!

Well I was brought up watching Palace & the rivalry with Brighton means I have to hate the team even if I love the town. Croydon is shite thou not all parts of it are, by the way I meant to say 'shame about rather than shame on...'

At least it wasn't the Play-off Final.

That was a very difficult watch.

  • To be blunt, we were very very poor.
  • Dunk being on the field wouldn't have made too much difference.
  • Bolasie controlled the match and Bruno was made a complete idiot, he was awful.
  • Dunks red can't rally be contested, it may have been a tiny bit harsh so early in the game but I'd say 75% of ref's would have given a straight red.
  • Murray made contact with Tomasz, not the other way around, Murray 'won' the penalty.
  • Not much else to say about the rest of the match, it was entirely boring.

If anyone is to blame, it's Gus and his tactics. He seems to bottle every big game. Last season at Southampton and West Ham are 2 examples off the top of my head where Gus clammed up resulting in us getting thoroughly embarrassed.
8 wins in 20 did somebody say? I hope this isn't completely accurate?

This is crap. Even Palace fans (except for a few arrogant tossers) would concede the sending off spoilt the game. (As did Lambert's sending off for Southampton last season).

At least it wasn't the Play-off Final.
A highly tricky affair with first choices El Abd (central defence), Bridge (left back), Painter (reserve left back), Vincelot (third choice left back), Vicente (midfield genius) and Lualua (left winger, chronic loss of form) all missing

A scarcely mitigated disaster from the minute Dunk failed to control the ball on a bumpy pitch and rightly got sent off.

This meant:

1) Our attack was reduced by 33% as Orlandi had to go back
2) We had nobody to defend the crosses to Murray
3) Palace could now double-up on Buckley without the left side threat
4) Spare man Garavan was given an almost free role to do what he wanted

Then it went from bad to terrible to even worse. Orlandi who had done quite well as an emergency full back got injured. Then it got even worse with nobody to defend the corners properly with Ramage causing danger before Murray scored from a header. 1-0.

Then Macca (CMS) missed a sitter like he he has been doing ever since we signed him.

Then it just got worse with the trailing foot penalty that shouldn't have been 2-0 (we need full time referees in the Championship) and then Greer gave up trying to defend properly at all for the third penalty 3-0. Then Gus gave up the game by bringing Dicker on for Buckley so we could not even get a consolation goal.

I do not suppose Palace were allowed to play particularly well. Bolaise looked like a right footed Craig Noone and Zaha like Lualua on a bad day. Congrats to Palace on two well taken penalties and the performance of Glen Murray. But the southern presence in the Premier might have to be postponed for next year as both sides will not go up and it might be either one or neither of them.

No money troubled ..... Are you terminally stupid or doesn't loosing million of pounds a year not rank as money troubles. Your youth scheme was funded on debt and with your chairman stating that you need financial stability then something has to give.
A scenario for you. You're a promising teenager who can choose between palace or the Albion. You can choose between a state of the art academy second only to a top premier league teams facility or you can go to palace. Added to this you can either look forward to playing at the Amex or that hovel that you class as a ground. No brainier really. And before you start denying this we have lost players to reading because of the delta in facilities. As I say long term you're f***ed, the fact that you deny this makes it all the more enjoyable.

I was thinking the exact same thing, Bolasie was all flash and no bang. Zaha might have had a decent game if he had tried a bit harder and not ponced around doing his usual diving and attempted showboating. I think he already knows he is off in January, his agent is whoring him about like nobodies business and CPFC and the Yokel are saying all the right things to keep his percieved value high, only another few games for Palace then he can join a proper club and earn some decent money. We got done yesterday, I can handle that although I would like to have seen the game 11 v 11. There is a long long way to go yet and more twists and turns yet to come, January's transfer window will be interesting, remember Murray putting in a couple of transfer requests when at the Albion? He's a proven mercenary when it comes to the moolah and at the top of his form and banging in the goals I wouldn't be at all surprised if he tries to engineer a move away from Palace for another big payday.
