Feels a bit harsh putting all the youngsters on at once and inevitable looking shaky - some good players in there who aren't able to play at their best due to uncertainty in confidence of those around them. Ah well, live and learn onto the next.

Brighton factually.....
After all the changes in the second half it was inevitable we would lose to smug Eddie.

quite ironic and sad to see all those plastic American Geordies jumping around celebrating “their” team’s victory wearing the colours of the very state (allegedly) that sponsored the group that brought down the twin towers…..

Starting to worry now. Last few matches I’ve caught were Fulham, Everton, Man U in the cup semi. Just got in tonight from the Pulp gig and literally popped the match on to see the winning goal go in within 15 seconds. I’m feeling like a proper Jonah.

Do I have to sit out watching 23/24 for the greater good?

PS: The Pulp gig was magnificent.

Obviously a lot of the youngsters that came on will be in the 21s or on loan..but I'd definitely loan out Ayari and Buonaotte. They need to get up to speed in terms of pace and physicality.
The squad is big enough to loan them out.

No, turns is the centre half he deals with it. Should never have been put in that situation to start with. This game has left a bitter taste in my mouth. We need to be beating teams like that. Maybe too many u21s at the same time with a lack of experience....but hey ho
I think when it was a first team squad v first team squad we were clearly the better side. Interesting that they were told to press once Veltman, Van Hecke, Dahoud and Caicrdo went off.
Lots of positives from first 60 minutes. All the changes and stoppages over last 25 minutes made it fairly meaningless.

Terrible game management. On target for a 1-0 thrashing then gave it away literally. Too many changes causedlack of understanding. Welbeck on again provedhe is World class.
It’s a friendly, mate. He is assessing players in a match situation in a variety of positions to ascertain their viability for competitive matches fulfilling those roles. The likes of Weir, Samuels, Turns, Peupion and a few others won’t be regularly appearing for us, but if one of them stepped up and played superbly then he’d have another option he trusts.

As it is, I thought Peupion did well out of that group, and we finished the game with Lamptey at left back, Turns and Samuels at centre back and Weir at right back. In other words, the result wasn’t the priority.

Turns will absolutely go out on loan so all good. Maybe some of the others too. Been three really good games and as the combinations have been so experimental at times, the results really don’t matter

High ceilings but they’ll not get much game time at all this season. Loans would be great for the both.

At least the Yanks would have enjoyed the game.. Seems most were supporting Newcastle anyway. Many probably never heard of Brighton 🙂

They won’t see it though, too stupid.

in fact I am going to remove twitter as I think it is killing my intellect as I can’t help read the comments under Brighton tweets as it over run with brain dead Chelsea plastics.

I think this is unlikely. We will be required to play a lot of football in the coming season, and an injury or two and we’ll be very short without them. They are both very young players and need minutes to progress - better with us in my view.

Ayari is light years away from the required standard, as is Turns. Both need to go out on loan, pronto. With the exception of Verbruggen, none of the kids look capable of playing out of the press in and around our area.

On the plus side tonight, Van Hecke looked decent as did Verbruggen but I think we miss MacAllister's dead ball ability and incisiveness. Dahoud is not going to give us any goal production, Ayari and Lallana won't be the answer either.

Chucked that in the bin didn't we, far too many changes. Doesn't matter I suppose, but still annoying. I used to hate it when Sven did that.
To be fair the Van Hecke injury didn't help. We were pretty comfortable up to that point and were still the better side up to the equaliser. Don't look too deep into the result, the performances were decent enough

Was it fair on Turns to play in that match? Maybe if he had Dunky beside him.Yeah of course I get its a friendly just p155ed me off we should've won that and I hate seeing us lose and smug Howe.
