Since when was football a mathmatical equation? It has nothing to do with maths. When was the last time Rooney scored for England? Let's have the stat on that shall we, and then tell me the last time Heskey scored for England. And tell me that's a good front two.

Don't they say that everything is a mathematical equation?

Rooney last scored for England on 9th September 2009, against Croatia(7 appearances ago).

Heskey last scored for England on 6th June 2009 against Kazakhstan(6 appearances ago).

Since the last time one of them scored in an England shirt, how many of the seven games do you think they've played together? The answer's two. Now, in the eight games prior to that 'drought' that they played under Capello, how many times do you think Rooney scored? Nine. Yes, that's right. He scored nine goals in 8 games when partnered with Heskey. How many goals do you think he scored in the nine games he's played under Capello when he hasn't been partnered with Heskey up front? Hmm? Any ideas? None. Zip. Nada. Zilch. A big fat zero. And, as an added bonus, heskey even managed to score a couple in that eight game run.

That's the reason why Capello plays Heskey. Yes it's frustrating when he misses opportunities that most other players would fancy their chances of scoring but if you want Rooney to produce his best in an England shirt the evidence suggests you've got to play Heskey.
