Well it's that time of the year again and the first Semi-final is on tonight starting at 8pm on BBC Three.
Who are your favourites to take the title?
France are heavily backed but can they justify their short price?
How will the 2 returning Champions (Lena - Germany, Dana International - Israel) fair?
The Jedward twins are sliding into 2nd favourites with their catchy pop song 'Lipstick'.

I have to say the quality of songs in today's semi-final is exceedingly poor with many decent songs likely to miss out qualifying in Thursday's 2nd semi.

Most importantly however, are the women!

What - Germany have got Lena again? That's weird.

And Israel have Dana back.

Have Sweeden got ABBA?

If there was a way to get their traditional nul points in the semis, I think Norway would manage it.

I'm gonna have to give the "Who Gives A Flying f*** The Contest Is Rigged" Award I'm afraid.

Don't watch it, you'll never get that those lost hours back. Just don't.

Intelligent post...all voting is "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours".More to do with political boundries than the songs.

I like the competition but the political voting has to stop. We probably don't deserve being anywhere near the top in recent years, but there defiantly has been shitter songs by other countries and we're getting less points. Stop all of Europe's phone lines so no one at home can politically vote.

Watch the acts for the LOLS and don't watch the voting would be my advice.

Is the right answer, it's good for a laugh.

Happily, I had no idea it was even on. Since when did they have semi finals??

Basically now that so many countries want to enter (entries last night included San Marino, who didn't qualify, and Azerbaijan, who did) that they can't fit them all into the main show. The Big Five of UK, Germany, France, Italy and Spain (basically the ones who finance the bloody thing) get into the Final automatically, everyone else has to go into one of two semi finals. Each semi has 19 countries in it of which 10 qualify for the final (so you end up with 25 in the final) and 9 don't.

Caught a little bit of the show just in time for a classic question from Sara Cox who was co-hosting
the show.
There were 2 identical twins representing slovenia (quite fit by the way ) who were greeted with the
1st line of " where did you both meet "

Missed the official thread but as posted elsewhere Denmark is a great song which I have backed large at 25-1. Great each way bet. Odds will change dramatically after the semi tonight which I expect them to win.

France is also a good bet. Although could be a live it hate it type thing.

Tonight's semi is 10x stronger than Tuesday's one. I can't see Denmark winning the semi but look good to qualify though.
Ireland, Bosnia, Estonia, Belarus.......all really good songs. I would love to see Belarus qualify but my head says they'll miss out unfortunately.
I backed Ireland early and got 5/1 on them to finish top 10 on Saturday. You'll be lucky to get those odds on them to WIN!
