of our current squad, if we got promoted to the prem in 2/3 years who would make it?

Elliott Bennett is the only one I think could be ok at that level, if he keeps developing as he is currently. Maybe Bridcutt.

Depends on how the youngsters progress, Dunk? Bennett? Bridcutt? Caskey? I think (if) we get there, the more experienced in the team will be too slow and wouldn't improve anymore past being good Leage One players.

If Dunk keeps developing he could, if Bennett keeps developing he could, if Bridcutt keeps developing he could. No one else in the team (with the exception of Navarro assuming he can re-find his end of last season form once he is back from injury) would cope at that level week in week out.

If he ever comes back you can add LuaLua to that list obviously.

I think only Bennett and maybe Calderon. Bridcutt is quickly becoming my favourite player, class act!

Calderon's too old though, isn't he 29 already? If he was younger then I might add him.

El Abd seems to have the defensive ability, but not the body (at a prem level)

I don't think El Abd would have the technical ability to play in the Prem. He has been OUTSTANDING lately, I do believe he is currently playing to the top of his potential. Love to be proved wrong though.

I think you're being very generous there, unless your playing him solely to hold up the all which he probably could do in the prem, or maybe in a 4-5-1 if he bulks up a bit, we'd need better though

Would he need to bulk up though? You only need to breath on players in the Premiership and they get a foul. Crouch is a skinny bean pole and hes done alright for himself

But then the likes of berbatov, crouch e.t.c. have a footballing ability that far surpasses murrays, I think he'd need the bulk to give him an extra edge to make for other areas that would be lacking at prem level but not at league one level.

Fundamentally I agree, although there are some pedigree donkeys in the Premiership.

However, that's the thing with El-Abd - just when you thought you'd seen all there is to see of him, he steps up another gear.

Based on his performance at villa last season I think he would do ok in the prem, not outstanding but he would hold his own IMO

Only Bennett and even then he would have to improve quite a bit to make that step up. Dunk maybe if he continues his progression but then I remember people saying similar about Elphick and Lynch.

Taking a leaf from Blackpool's book and assuming they continue to develop I think all of the following have the ability to still be with us as squad players at very least...............

Bennett
Painter
Bridcutt
Barnes
Wood
Dunk

possibly Calderon, Caskey and Greer

cant belive how much el-abd has changed, remember a few years ago i use to worry every time he got near the ball. he looked slow, weak and he would miss headers. but starting from when gus took over hes been getting better and better. and against peterborough away he was rock, atually he wasnt a rock he was the whole f***ing mountain. in my view if they keep imrpoving al-abd, bridcutt, dicker, bennett, murray and even barnes could make the prem. look at some of the blackpool players that have done very well.

I would say ask me next season when I've had a good look at how they perform in the championship SHOULD we get there. Blackpool have proved that with the right positive attitude it is possible to make a go of the premiership without the marquee signings that everyone expects. Totally agree with everyone about Bennett but then he already has champ experience. I'd like to think Murray has the ability to improve over the 2/3year time period mentioned to at least a 10 or so prem goal player.
