I heard an interview with the Celtic manager on radio 5 live this morning where he was talking about the Edouard. He said that he didn't want to keep players at the club that don't want to be there, and when asked specifically if Edouard was happy to stay he said 'you would have to ask the player'. Reading between the lines it sounded like they want him to stay but that he is forcing through a move.

If he is trying to force a move it seems there's a lot of dithering.

If any club was that sure, he's their guy (with 1 year left) and are willing to stump up the 20 odd million, wouldve expected it not to drag on this long if player was keen to move..... Unless of course it's Edouard holding out in the hope better suitors or bigger offers come his way.

I don't think they will with his recent form. Brighton/Stains level will be about as good as it gets before end of month (if true)

They’ve been trying to get him to sign a contract extension for 18months without success. What part of ‘No’ do Celtic not understand? This has got Aug 31st written all over it. They’ll have to take what they are offered. EVERYONE is waiting to the end of the window to bid for the lad when Celtic will be bent over, trousers down and waving their collective bum in the air, ready to be shafted.

These types of situations do tend to have a habit of dragging on though don't they. The owners of clubs are successful businessmen, often with big egos, who I would imagine don't like the idea of being held to ransom by players that are still under contract.

I agree, I think it might go to the end of the window and then its a matter of who blinks first!

Once a price has been agreed, several clubs will match it. It’s then down to the player. I suspect he’d go to Roma if they are still in the game at the end though.

Agent talk to try to create some interest maybe? Struggling to picture any reality where Roma would be interested.

OH Leuven striker Thomas Henry is set to sign for Celtic in a £7m deal. Possibly a replacement from Édouard?

Absolutely - I'd have Wood or Barnes in a flash, they would both do the job we need

Can you imagine a front three of Maupay, Andone and Barnes? Not sure we'd get a lot of goals but there would be a hell of a lot of cards flying around

Roma are seemingly close to a deal for Tammy Abraham so I suspect they are not looking at Edouard now.
they have agreed a fee with Chelsea for tammy can't see them wanting both

Has it been discussed that Naylor said a fee hadn't been agreed the other day?

A notable difference from his usual stance of no bid being made, suggests that there's finally been some movement.

Well spotted.

The ‘nothing in this’ comment has been modified, he is finally conceding that there is interest, we must be ‘talking’ to Celtic.

The scotch press is full of these sorts of comments in reference to Henry’s likely transfer to the Hoops:

“Henry’s arrival would soften the blow of losing Edouard, with Brighton now favourites to land his signature this month.”

Yet the Naylor loyalists still think we are not after him.
