Romano is a blagger. The guy supports Watford because it was the team he played mostly on FIFA when he was a teenager. He is no more a football man than the sycophantic kids who follow him and support teams thousands of miles away from their Middle Eastern homes.

May not be what you describe as a football man, but he does seem to be fairly ITK about transfer dealings at a lot of clubs. Can’t think of many he’s got wrong.

Do you seriously think the club would waste valuable resources (people, time, money) to come up with a plan that involves pursuing a striker in an attempt to entice Palace to bid for him too. And then having done so, we withdraw out interest leaving them to buy him.

Surely the club has enough in its plate with recruiting and offloading players whilst also getting prepared for the covid season ahead than worry itself with a hare brained scheme like you’ve just come up with.

Wouldn't it be great if we were that obsessed with sabotaging palace. Imagine Tony Dan and Paul all stroking fluffy white cats and sniggering at our Machiavellian plan to ruin them. The stuff of dreams.

On a more serious note.... He looks useful but if it were a choice of him or cucurella, I would prefer cucurella. And perhaps more important than signing either is keeping Biss. Some people seem happy to trade him in for a few magic beans.

This thread is quite funny now.

Delusion, desperation, crackpot conspiracy theories, it’s all here!

It's like the 7 stages of grief, and everyone is at a different stage.

I'd be amazed if the club hung both Owen and Naylor out to dry on this one with such a cut and dried denial with no wiggle room.

So it'll be a different striker that we sign.

Edouard is leaving Celtic, there can’t be much else that can happen as the Scotch club will lose millions and millions if they don’t flog him now (or January).

If the club don’t think Celtic will be reasonable with the fee for another 5 weeks, there is no harm in stating that we’re not interested, Naylor and Owen just haven’t been given the reason which is the £20m+ fee Celtic are holding out for. Once a transfer fee has been agreed with ANY club, others (like us?) will match the offer giving Edouard a choice. Could be only £8m or so come Tuesday 31st August.

Neither Owen nor Naylor added the caveat "at this time" or "things could change".etc.

It was a definitive denial. They have been well and truly shafted credibility-wise if the club was feeding them a false line.

My theory/guess :

We have another striker signing ready to be announced on the day Ben White leaves. And Owen and Naylor have been given the hint ( not necessarily given a name though).

Wishful thinking I suspect.
Still feel it more likely we will be in for Edouard at some point

Yes, just a guess. Maybe wishful thinking.

Edouard isn't the only possibility though. I think it is noteworthy that there was no wiggle room from the club source.

“In August 2017, Deportivo La Coruña turned down a €13 million offer for the player [Andone] from Premier League side Burnley, with club president Tino Fernández stating that Andone would only leave if his €30 million release clause is activated. Brighton & Hove Albion was also interested in transferring him,and made a €20 million bid which was also supposedly rejected.”

We know how to play the waiting game and win.

He's better than that.

He's easily the most reliable of an unreliable bunch.

But often he only picks out the truth in what others are reporting, filtering out much of the nonsense.

Agreed. 1 more season and he'll be available for free. I know more clubs could then challenge for his signature but surely with no fee we could compete with a few others for his services.

You must be a troll. You can't be this thick.
I was replying to the poster who said the club didn’t have any money  at no point did I say what the club used the money for, obviously the club does have an income. Not sure how that is being a troll but there you go. Or maybe you just don’t know how a Ltd company works

He just confirms transfers. It’s sensible, but he isn’t an insider and he is never first to the information. It’s all a bit of a cult.

True, but at least he offers that much.

Better than those who just make stuff up to generate clicks.
