I think he's done OK for them. Scored a few goals. Sadly, that's about all £18m and 80k a week gets these days unless you get lucky with a punt.

Palace were set up yesterday to draw or snatch a win. There was no high press or pressure on the ball at all with. It’s the most effective way to set-up against us for the vast majority of teams in the EPL, credit to Potter for this because that is how most teams set-up against the Big Six.

On this basis, Eduoard was always going to look poor because he had no service or support at all. His manager was expecting him to run around a lot and hopefully touch the ball ‘once’ in the penalty area and score.

He did ok. Palace’s game plan yielded them a point. He has only scored 2 less goals than Maupay.

I also watched Ivan Toney on Tues at Southampton, he was also totally ineffective.

When Toney and Edouard were available I was hoping we would sign one of them.
We dodged two bullets.

The one to get next summer IMHO is Broja. But no doubt Chelsea (if they are prepared to sell) will want top dollar and there will be better value buying from the French league or South America.
Agree with you about Broja
Looks the real deal do far when he has played

Exactly , so why would we want to spend £40m on a striker at this stage in the season. Edouard is an expensive player to both why and pay wages for. Seriously believe we dodged a bullet there.

We have Ferguson and Tolaj bit of which should be given game time and you never know what might happen!

The media, typically Sky, from time to time hugely hype the following players as on the cusp of greatness.

Olise (age 21)
Edouard (age 25)
Eze (age 24)

Then there’s Soutgate’s pets Mitchell (age 23) and Guehi (age 22).

What am I missing? As I don’t see consistently outstanding footballers.

Colwill for example is streets ahead of Guehi and Mitchell, belying his youth.

The pressure of having to beat Inverness Caledonian Thistle to remain 63 points clear at the top is unbelievable to his credit. His hard work in the MTL set him up for his sublime performance tonight.

Yeah but he currently plays for Brighton so until Colwill goes back to Chelsea, no chance of Southgate pickimg him

Really? Blackpool beach striker
Yep, he’s been dogshit and was again tonight.

In context though, this was £15 million two seasons and lots of inflation ago. That’s what we got for Maupay. It’s about the going rate for bang average second choice strikers

Eze is quality. He ran the last 15 minutes of the game.

Chelsea will buy him when Palace are relegated.

It is very funny that Olise clearly thinks he is the modern day Cantona or Zidane, when he's actually this generation's Paddy McCourt at a push.
