On that theme, I set the upstairs TV volume to Sony’s arbitrary ‘20’. A nice round number.
Worked with a bloke who had many strange habits, countless stories that make people laugh. A mundane one was that he lined up dozens of pens and pencils on his desk in precise parallel lines, rather than getting on with the actual job. It went against his nature … his desk was a tip.
When I’m cooking our evening meal, I can’t eat mine until all the washing up of pots, pans etc. is done and everything put away.
You are a psychopath. My partner says that my odd habit is counting the number of stairs on a staircase.
She's wrong of course; that's not odd.
Is it?
Edit: FFS. She now says that refusing to set my alarm clock to go off at a time where the minutes end in either 0 or 5 is odd. So, 06:33 is ok, 06:35 or 06:30 is not.
Wrong again, of course.
Me too. Even (or especially) when going to the supermarket I have to have a podcast on the go. I never listen to music, and haven’t done for years. Has to be the spoken word, usually podcasts on football or politics, occasionally book reviews. If doing anything chore-like (washing, cooking, unpacking shopping, showering etc) I need sound. Sometimes musically but usually a podcast or YouTube video playing in the background.
I also need the same when going to sleep.
This, hugely effective! My nocturnal habits used to be a problem as my wife needs total silence when trying to sleep. The miraculous answer is an audio sleep mask that, as the name suggests, doubles as a cosy sleep mask and headphones, and is totally inaudible to anyone else. A godsend.
You've been watching too much Dion DublinMy partner says that my odd habit is counting the number of stairs on a staircase.

Nothing wrong with that. And it you’ll excuse the pun, I take it one step further. My partner says that my odd habit is counting the number of stairs on a staircase.

Does a wet spoon f*** things up ?A teaspoon of instant coffee ALWAYS needs a top-up of a double dip ..the second being about 1/8 of a teaspoon.
Always coffee first, before water.Does a wet spoon f*** things up ?
Serious dedication to the cause there!!Nothing wrong with that. And it you’ll excuse the pun, I take it one step further.
For stairs I use regularly I remember the number as I have to finish on my left foot. So an odd number of stairs I take the first one with left foot, but an even number I have to start with my right foot.
As an example of how seriously I take this, to get down to the northbound platform of the Victoria line, the flights of stairs I use are 23, 17, 8, 9 & 13
Don’t even get me started on escalators.
