Goalkeeper Tommy Reid (1st-year scholar) has been called up to the England U-17 squad for their 3 matches in Belarus between Oct 16 - 22 for the UEFA 2022 European U-17 Championships qualifying round. He replaces True Grant.

Interesting given that he hasn't been able to displace Fisher as the Albion u18 no.1

Good for the Tommy fella but I cant help to hope that anyone named True Grant will be a great player.

I don't think we have a number one at U-18 level. If you include the U-17 cup match against Chelsea, this season Fisher has started 5 games and Reid 3.

More pertinently when it comes to England, Reid has previously been called up for six different England training camps (the first back in March 2019) and two different match squads (against Turkey and Belgium at U-15 level). Fisher hasn't had a single involvement. I think it was always going to be Reid called up rather than Fisher.

Not to do with Brighton players but see 5 Div 1 games called off because of international call ups. Is this a sign of more foreign players coming over or British players qualifying for smaller countries.

Worth noting that Ferguson was not called into the Irish U-17 squad for the game against Andorra (he is in the U-21 squad along with Moran).

As an aside - the irish team against Andorra was the first U-17 for Ireland not to have a player from an English league club - the team was made up by players from Ireland, Scotland, Italy and Spain. In contrast the Irish U-21 squad is made up exclusively of Irish and British based players.

Connolly can't get onto the pitch for Republic of Ireland against the likes of Azerbaijan even as a sub anymore.

You'd like to think alarm bells are ringing for him now, as his career is going down the shitter and fast?
Not looking good for Molumby either, is it?

Irish manager has agreed with quite a few on NSC that he needs to go out on loan to get game time. He is currently not good enough to play for the Albion, even with our paucity of strikers.

Leaving aside the haters who just want a 'loan to get rid' deal, now there's one more added to the 'He needs a loan' (for his own and the club's own good) camp - even to League 1 or 2; he was a top, top goal-scorer in PL2, and needs to recover that knack by simply going out and doing just that - putting the ball in the back of the net. Any net. Any level.

Makes you wonder just who thinks it's a good idea to keep him as a bench warmer at The Albion.

Agreed with respect to the previous England call ups however I'm not sure I agree about his time at Brighton. Fisher has started every league game apart from one which he was part of the u23 match squad. But perhaps you are right and Brighton recognise that Reid is getting time with England aswell so not so pertinent that he is involved as much in the league. Guess we will be able to see more clearly further into the season! It does make sense to spread the minutes at this development stage.

Jensen Weir was an unused sub for England U-20s today in their 5-0 win in the Czech Republic and both the Zaks (Sturge and Emmerson) were unused subs as the England U-18s beat Russia 3-0 in Marbella.

Samy Chouchane came on as a substitute for the Tunisian U-20s in a friendly against their French counterparts in France yesterday (Chouchane was born in France but of Tunisian lineage).

The two sides meet again on Sunday.

This was our boy in action on Thursday (no. 21).

He was again a sub yesterday but I don't think he got on this time.

Molumby will have a longer and better career than Connolly. Quite simply because he is a far more talented player.

Yet Connolly was on the pitch at Selhurst in the Premier League relishing Maupay's late equaliser while Molumby has made maybe 2 appearances in the Championship?

Your prediction and assertion may take a while to be proven.
