He was a good player under wilkins. Shame it fell apart. But obviously his boat has sailed.

Carole? Cant judge him under Adams, as Adams might have left Maradona on the bench for "being a luxury" or "not on of the laaads"

I don't quite understand what you mean about Adams and the luxury player comment but Carole was only here for less than a month under Adams. Slade was the one who (quite rightly in my opinion) rarely played Carole during his time in charge and released him in May. Carole was okay in his first spell (started off really well but his form and interest faded) but very poor second time round. I really hope we don't sign him for a third time.

As for O'Callaghan, he was over rated first time and I would far rather play Crofts and Dicker. Surely the fact he has been released by Tranmere and Yeovil recently says all we need to know. Fair enough Gus had a look at him but I am glad he has decided against him.

Glad O'Callaghans gone. Thought he was extremely over rated in his previous spell.

Carole in his first spell used to run down the wing beating a couple of players on the way (or the same one over and over again) and then run into a cul de sac by the corner flag before having to have several of his team mates coming to hin 5 metres of him before he was able to pass it, he couldn't deliver a decent early cross into the area when in a good position to do so, and drew our players away from the oppositions box and out to the wings so we then had no one central to threaten the goal - so thanks but no thanks.

Why are these two on trial anyway? Is O'Callaghan better than Crofts or Dicker... NO
Is Carole better than Bennett or Cox... NO

We need to bring in players better than what we already have.
Spot on. I had absolutely no problem with the fact that both were back on trail as Poyet hadn't seen O'c for himself and rightly wanted to make his own opinions. Quite rightly he came to the conclusion with O'c. that a man released by both Tranmere and Yeovil is not exactly the League One version of Steven Gerrard. Hopefully he'll soon come to the same conclusion with Carole. At their best, at their very very very best they might be on par with the likes of Navarro or Cox, but are they better? No way. And as you say there is no point in signing players who won't improve the squad.

Strings also makes a good point inasmuch as assembling a squad isn't a matter of just getting players with the right skills and then putting them together into a team like a set of Lego bricks; they've got to 'fit in' as people. And whilst they haven't all got to be best mates happily accepting every managerial decision the last thing we need is troublemakers or people who could disrupt whatever team spirit Poyet has managed to build up.
