As there's a fair few NetFlix officiandos on here, I wonder if someone can help me get my head around a particular quandary.
Sadly all this is going prove is just how completely out of touch I am with the 21st century, apologies.

For his b'day present I'd like to buy jnr a basic TV/DVD combo for his bedroom.
I don't want the faff of running an aerial into his room (is that me being too 'old skool'?)

As I have NetFlix on the main TV, through our PS3.
Is there anyway I can get it upstairs as well without landing jnr with excessive presents.

You can get a separate aerial which you just plug into the back of the TV which should work fine in most areas.

Not sure about the Netflix bit though. Has he/you got a laptop you could plug into the back of jnr's tv? If so, that's probably the easiest solution....

P.s. would advise against a TV/DVD combo as they have a reputation for going wrong altogether if the DVD bit stops working (this might not be the case nowadays though?).

Hope this helps.

Something like the amazon fire TV stick or chrome cast can make a basic tv a smart tv.

I would think an Amazon Fire stick, Chromecast or the like would be the easiest way of getting Netflix on his tellybox - would cost about £30, and with very limited technical savvy (even I managed to do it) you can also download Kodi onto it and then he can access a whole plethora of porn. Sorry, TV.

A new series called "Westworld" starts this Sunday based on the classic Michael Crichton film. It's from HBO which is always a good recommendation, but I'm always a bit wary when they take a classic and re-imagine it - but it looks promising from the trailers

First episode of Westworld last night and it looks like a keeper. No spoilers but you can see they've spent some money on it and the episode finished leaving quite a few possibilities open.

freaks and geeks has just made its way onto the UK netflix. it's a US high school series featuring a young james franco, seth rogan, jason segel and others. no-one watched it when it was on first time around but it gained a cult following due to the later success of its cast. I feel that it gets better as the series goes on and is a pleasurable watch

I've been waiting for that to come to BBC 4. Where are you watching it?

Must admit, had only watched first 6 parts when I wrote, the final 2 leading up to the inevitable denouement were less inspiring. Offer is still there if you wish to watch.

Just about to launch in to this : MV5BMTUwMjc0NDYwNV5BMl5BanBnXkFtZTgwOTU2MjEwODE@._V1_UY268_CR1,0,182,268_AL_.jpg

Here's an easily missed British oddity from the QI stable:-

No Such Thing As The News, is back Wednesday BBC2 11pm.

It is the cheapest show on TV, as 4 smart people, (looking like a hostage video), discuss 4 current news stories.
If you like smart, very funny and no glitz, this is the perfect programme.

I mentioned Fringe on here a while ago and most people didn't seem to know it. Now near end of season 2 (23 episode seasons) and really enjoying it. Very American, and a little formulaic, but very watchable. Also watching Mr Robot, thanks to those who recommended, very good.

Haven't read through the thread properly, but designated survivor on Netflix is really good. They're drip feeding the episodes which is a pain, but it's worth it.

Might have to peruse this thread again soon. A few people were making Red Dwarf references at work and I had only ever seen a few random episodes. Nearly finished watching all of them so will need a new binge watch soon. Although I should probably watch the Series 1 House of Cards Blu-ray I bought first.

66 pages is a lot to go through so apologies if these have already been mentioned:

Bates Motel available on Netflix. I've been addicted for four seasons. It's all about Norman Bates before he became a 'Psycho'. It's brilliant if you want easy to watch escapism, especially if you liked the original movie.

The Night Of on Thursday nights on Sky Atlantic. Only a couple of episodes left but worth catching up on. It's so good. Powerful reality of the criminal justice system.
