Always felt that Brown would get into the first team coaching side of the club. Good move Gus.

Steve Brown, former Charlton and Reading defender. He is now (at the moment) our youth team manager but looks like he may become our first team coach.

Who is this Brown bloke ?

Steve Brown. He spent most of his career with Charlton and played in every single position for them. Ended his career at Reading and was the youth coach at The Valley before ending up as the reserve team coach for West Ham.

I think he was originally here to look after our kiddies...

Hes a top bloke and lives local, has was coaching at Reading and West Ham generally with Pardew. Was a very good player.

I played golf with him a couple of years ago ( hes a bandit by the way off about 5 ) and a couple of us were asking who the best striker he came up against was and who was the worst etc

I will always remember he said the worst was Tore Andre Flo who had signed for Sunderland i think at the time and was reportedly earning about 40k a week, which was a shit load then and still is now... anyway he said it was the easiest game of footballl he has ever played in at any standard ! he didnt move a muscle the whole game Flo apparantly.

He also took and scored a penalty in the play off final for Charlton at Wembley....now that was pressure he said !

Brown went to stanley descon i believe ( sorry i cant spell it, like most of the kids who went there ) Very good coach as well by all accounts currently involved with the youth development, think it would be a good appointment, good to see a new approach in terms of back room staff.

I played with Steve Brown at under 13's and 14 level. He was very good then, but not one of the stand out players who you thought would make it. However, he was totally dependable on the pitch - exactly what he was throughout his playing career

Oatway has got his UEFA B and is currently working on his UEFA A (this one is the big one that takes a lot of time)
Brown has got both UEFA B and UEFA A
Poyet has got both UEFA B and UEFA A and is midway through his UEFA PRO

i.e. all 3 have the relevent qualifications

don't know about Taricco yet but i suspect he is similarly qualified
