O/T - Who should win the Mercury Music Prize?

Bearing in mind its meant to be an award for innovation, immediatly ruling out Radiohead and Coldplay who have made albums that sound exactly the same as their nominated ones before.

Lemon Jelly, I actually quite like the LP its a bit different unlike the rest of the bands listed, individualism should win prizes.

I've got a soft spot for the Martina Topley Bird album but it's a touch overproduced in places and Dizee Rascal is clearly a phenominal talent.

All in all it's a pretty poor showing (although in fairness there are a couple there that I've never heard of).

I think it should be going to the Beth Gibbons & Rustin Man album but that didn't even get nominated

I'd like to see Dizzee win it, his album is genuinely different to anything else on that list and i have actually listened to the other ones i hadn't heard of. You can dismiss it as just another garage act but the beats are interesting and he says some interesting stuff.

However he won't win so i voted for those crazy bastards The Darkness.

Unfortunately, I've only heard five of these - two albums by whinging gits (but Radiohead are at least much, much better than Coldplay), and three utterly derivative, thoroughly boring albums (The Thrills, Lemon Jelly and the awful The Darkness).

I can only hope the other nominees are better.

Sorry I tinhk Radiohead deserve it, The most recent album is a development of their sound which is very innovative and completely original, no one else is doing their thing anyway.

I'm puzzled as to why coldplay are on there I must admit, even though I am a fan its not like it is anytihng new or exciting.

If not Radiohead the other one that stands out for me is The Thrills altohugh most of their songs sound very similar. Failing that I rather like Lemon Jelly.

The darkness can f*** off though and so can Dizee Rascal as well

In actual fact the awrd shoudl go to a smaller artist without the money, I mean 20 grand to COldplay or Radiohead is not really worth writing home aobu tbut 20 grand to one of the smaller artists is a big deal.

In a way I kind of agree with you. I think bed wetting fucktards is a bit harsh but their music doesn't have anytihng exciting to it so shouldn't win it even though I like it.

And I think its just a front as jbl has proved you have a desire to sing like Chris MArtin, or is it just a desire to be a bed wetting fucktard that inspires.
