I'm out that way on Saturday night, will let you know if its any worse than the last time I went!

There was no way I was moving to Portsmouth when we reloacted nearly 12 years ago, its a HOLE!!! We got as far J5 on the M27 cos I wasnt going any nearer than that!! Anyway, Southampton is much posher

I'm going out with a bunch of girlie pompey dinlows, it will be more like Time and Envy on the sea front if its still around!! I dont like Tiger Tiger much anyway although we always do end up there some how!

No its not. Round here they are the enemy. Most of the villages are doing battles with these bastards as you try to sqeeze ridiculous numbers of houses onto wholly unsuitable sites. Then we have the gravel extraction to build the f***ing houses and the council benefits to pay the rents.

i can only echo the comments made by others here.
lived in pompey for 15 years after leaving the marines and saw southsea at night first hand, working on the door of (most) of the night clubs.

dont do it, the place is full of chavs and wannabe gangsta's and a total shithole.everyone seems to have an attitude down there and i wouldnt go back if you paid me

I've been to Southsea once, in between Christmas & New Year. The good bits are . . . . it has a Waitose and a John Lewis

When I said it was full of immigrants, I should perhaps qualify that statement before LI gets hold of it. It is not a wonderful multiracial, multicultural melting pot where we get the best of each culture with regard to food, arts and customs.

We get Turkish gangs, Kurdish gangs, Iraqi gangs, Bosnian gangs, mobile London drugs dealers which give us one of the worst drugs problems in the UK. Most of the immigrants are illegal, most of those that aren't are on benefits. And yes, it's true because my wife has professional dealings with the housing associations over here, so you can't write me off as a Nazi with an agenda. She also has dealings with genuine asylum seekers with scars and stories so bad you want to vomit. When accommodation is allocated to a family of four, you can guarantee that when a follow up check is carried out, they have all lost the ability to speak English and have expanded to about 15 of them. Oh yes, and they won't talk to women anymore. If they are not cab-driving, they are either dealing or using drugs. Check the local papers for this one (the court rounds up are a good place to start) - the amount of middle-eastern or African names that crop up for having no licence, tax, insurance, MOT, hackney cab licence, etc is astounding! And no, there is no equivalency here - it's a rising problem in Southsea.

There are regular stabbings, even in the supposed middle-class white areas of Gunwharf nightclubs. Add to this the students population who seem to exist to make noise, vomit and generally act like arseholes, and you don't have a "multicultural melting pot", you have a cauldron which frequently boils over.

It's a shithole.
