O/T mobile phones

How soon is now?
So it was a mate's phone? Sounds like he hadn't bothered charging it, you can hardly blame iPhones as a whole for him being careless can you?

No worries though, not gonna force it on you.

Thats a fair point, he assures me it was charged when we left Brighton - these things happen.
Its just a small risk i'm not prepared to take, I can carry a spare battery with pretty much any other phone, but I believe(and I can't confirm this) that iphones are sealed units...

Jeez - iPhone, no doubt whatsoever. It's baffingly good.

I know there must be hundreds of these threads, but i'm going to start another anyway.

I need a new mobile phone, ideally a smart phone. It needs to have built in wi-fi, everything else I need is pretty much standard these days anyway.

It'll be on a contract, but I don't want an iphone.

??

Anway..I'd say get a Palm Pre, HTC or Blackberry Storm then. Whatever you do don't get a Nokia N97, they run really badly and look miles behind the rest i've mentioned.

However I'd really recommend an iPhone. You'll get used to it and I bet you'd love it like a son after about a week

All joking aside, this chap was not convinced about the world of the iPhone but has one on trial.

That link above takes you to his review after 15 days of usage and he's coming around. Related to your concern, he says:

Battery - The iPhone battery is impressive. It has yet to drop below 50% in a day’s usage, even on days where I’m at a theme park sending a lot of photos and videos. Battery charge does seem to disappear quickly when I’m using PhotoSwap for some reason.

The chances are your mates wasn't the newest model, ie the 3GS. Battery life is improved on this model.

Oh come off it, I frequently have to charge mine 3 times in a day....

Still love it though.

Cheap phone and a netbook. Best of both worlds and cheaper in the long run.
