Everybody has their own personal pet hates. I have a number that bother me but others wouldn't notice. Things like cyclists riding on the pavement, people who empty the contents of their car ashtray onto the street and so . Not life threatening but they annoy me.

But, I was doing some Christmas shoppping yesterday and what peeves me, a small thing I grant you, is picking up an item and then finding it has no price tag. Nine out of Ten times, the shop assistants don't know either although you can hardly blame them for that. I just walk away now.

Anyway, what small thing irritates you ?

Stupidity

Stupidity in itself doesn't bother me as much as people who are stupid and think that their lack of brain power is funny, like my ex mother-in-law for instance, a truly stupid woman.

My new remote control. I bought one of those "one controller fits all" and calibrated it so that it'll operate the TV, the Sky and the DVD. It was fine for the first couple of days, but now every time I try to change the Sky channel, its reverted itself back to the TV and changes the TV channel instead (which flicks to nothing cos everything is through the Sky box). So I have to flick it back to the Sky box and press the numbers, except it doesn't always work and sometimes I have to do it 2 or 3 times. Then it'll work for a while, before deciding to revert back to the TV again. I need to change it, and quick, cos I'm going to hurl it at the wall very, very soon.

It puts me in a bad mood for the whole evening, it does.

When you're joining a motorway and the slip road becomes a new lane, rather than merging into the inside lane of the main carriageway.

It is always clearly signposted that you don't need to change lanes, yet legions of irritatingly slow, Lada-driving old grandpas never, ever notice the signs, and consequently pull straight out into the main carriageway at 45mph, forcing everyone else to brake or swerve.

I agree with quite a few already mentioned, spitting, litter and the new lane when joining a motorway.

Also whilst walking with Ned, we very often hold hands but people walk straight towards us expecting us to break up and move out of their way. We walk to one side so it's not as if we try and dominate the pavement or walkway in shopping centres.

Agree in theory, but as a cyclist and a driver, I would rather be walking and hit by a cyclist than cycling and hit by a car.

Cars have no respect for cyclists. Maybe I am the same when I am driving.
