Sky One and Sky Sports hd whatever is on them, Jeff Corwin Exp., A History of Modern Jazz (a million times because Paddy reckons that is so so much better in HD when really he is conning himself into thinking the money he spent was worth it), A Lady Does Not Write, Taxi probably others but that is off the top of my head.

I might be female but I know which channels are HD and which aren't and there is no difference that I can see.

Go for the Panasonic Viera range - both Plasma and LCD are about as good as anything I've seen. I spent 6 months researching before going for a Panasonic Plasma - but their LCD's are excellent as well.

Most of Sky One HD and Sky Sports HD isn't actually HD yet, its just been run through a scaler.

E.g. stretched. Planet Earth and Bleak House on BBCHD are true HD, and do look amazingly better.

I'm going to stick with my weird setup until Sky start transmitting enough HD content to justify their extra €15 a month rental fee for the box you already own; and I'm going to stick with my dodgy Turkish HD-capable but not HD-ready-stickered TV until they make true 1920x1080, progressive scan capable ones that don't weigh as much as John Prescott and need reinforced wall brackets for their zie...

He is! But for reasons other than my TV watching abilities ;-) He is lucky to be alive after buying the dumb TV. Anything after that is just a bonus.

Ever considered you might be suffering from this terrible problem called "Woman Vision" - we guys notice it a lot. Women seem to think that videos are as good quality as DVD, analogue TV as good as (decently sourced) digital TV, etc, etc

Actually, the Sky installer should be shot if he didn't do this right, but are you 100% sure you're actually watching over the HDMI or DVI connection and not SCART? On SCART, the picture will be so negligably better and possibly a bit blurrier in some cases as to make it unnoticable. You have to have it connected by HDMI/DVI, or component to get any real advantage from HD

If its all set up right, you've got Womanvision. If its not, please let me kill your Sky installer.

Please don't talk to me about technical things, MYOB. I am, after all, female. My husband is very into these type things and I am fairly sure he has made sure it set up correctly though. He has been fawning over this latest gadget like it's a new born baby so chances are it is correct and I am just suffering from "Woman Vision"

No disrespect Starry, but either your husband needs to check your setup - or you need to check your eyes.

My girlfriend and her friend have just been sitting through the BBC HDTV demo. I thought they might be hard work, but both were very impressed.

The wildlife programmes, in particular, look amazing - subtle ripples on water, minute detail on long shots etc.

The TV and box is set up and working just fine, there is a definite difference between the HD channels and the regular ones (especially the BBC demo you mentioned.) I can't help it that my wife has some sort of female ailment where she sees just what she wants to see and ignores the facts in front of her!
