£10. There's always a copy of Zoo or FHM to look at (even though I don't know who most of the girls are anymore). I would happily pay more for some young filth to massage my scalp though !

I'm pretty sure Meridian News or whatever it was called back then did a news feature on him once. He was known for having the cheapest haircuts in the south of England or something? By what you have described, they were cheap for a reason? I never had the "pleasure" of going there.

There is a guy in Woodingdean ( Not Woodies ) who has been there for years who charges £2.50 !

I've moved round a bit recently in Worthing. But the current place is £11, but one of the girls that is always in there, does my head in. Does not shut up!

Did anyone ever go to 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' along Church Road?

I stopped going when I got a crusty grey haired old biddy.

Ah the memories of Coopers in Baker St. Being escorted down by my father in the seventies/early eighties, sitting on a wooden plank placed across the arms of the chair and being butchered in the process. ( As soon as your hair had been cut and you bumped into people you knew the comment would always be "See you've been to Coopers then". In a strange sort of way I miss characters like him that were a big part of the Brighton I grew up in. Late Seventies around 50p, then went upto a £1 in the Eighties. Sadly now only a part of Brighton's history as he passed away around 14 years ago.

Now pay around a tenner for a trim.

£5.50, although of the two women working, one is a lovely lady who always likes to show off her 'assets', whereas the other one is pushing 20 stone at a guess.

If times are tight there is a place a bit closer which is £3.99 for gents, although you get what you pay for.

£8 +£1 yesterday & got to chat to Sammy Nelson & the owner of a racehorse tipped to do well on Saturday. Good banter, esp about another racehorse owner we all knew who had two twin teenage lads knock on his door last week and introduced themselves with the classic line 'We think you're our dad!' And he was. Hilarious

I bought a set of clippers about 15 years ago for £25. Still going strong and haven't blunted either.....

So an average cost of 3.5p...ish.

£15 in Winchester, with a head massage and intelligent conversation. I may be 60. but I still have something "on top", and my wife likes it a bit longer.... the hair, that is.

Coopers Barbers shop front should have gone in Brighton Museum, I never had a hair cut there but sometimes used to look in the window, I don't remember the window display ever changing.

After 14 years I'm on my second set of electric clippers. A £35 total investment has saved me hundreds of £££s.
