I know this has been bought up before, but without the search function, I cannae find it.

Bascially, Im looking to spend about £250, and on the lookout for a camera / memory card / printer type bundle. Any recommendations or particular makes / retailers to go for or avoid.

When you have an idea what you want check out Empire Direct online. Usually the lowest prices from a reputable source.

I have just ordered a Sony 5.1 megapixel camera for £168, it sells in Argos for £200, Index for £249.

Use Ebay...I bought a 6.1mp Kodak CX7630 with all the trimmings for under £200 - It was imported from the US and I had to pay £47 VAT, but it was well worth it...the camera I got even wipes my arse!:lolol:

A bit more than you are looking to spend, but I would highly recommend the Canon EOS 300D. I got one from Jessops recently for £699.

It is a very professional camera at a reasonable price.

Canon are also doing a £100 cashback until late January.

Park Cameras are selling for £619.00 with the current Canon offers of £100 cashback and 256MB compact flash card.

Got to disagree over the 300D in terms of it being a professional camera. It 'aint bad but it's got a number of limitations. Starting with the plastic body.

My advice, for what it's worth, is to go into a camera shop and get your hands on various cameras that are within your price range. There's no obligation to come away with any of them since you might find a better deal elsewhere but given the competitiveness of the market and similarity of the spec at that price, how comfortable a particular camera feels to use can often be a good deciding factor.
