O/T BT Vision

Does anyone have BT Vision? Is it any good?

Thinking about getting it in my new house; no cable, and rented so can't put up a dish for Sky. What exactly do you get? Is it just Freeview channels and the ability to buy (and watch) things 'on demand'? And I am right in thinking that the box they give you can also be used to record TV (presumably onto a hard drive in the box?)?

I think its great. It does all that we want - easy to record programmes/series etc. There are films to download (of variable quality) and easy to see what is on etc. You get all the freeview - and you can subscribe to Setanta if you wish. It is fine for us.

We have it, and I think it's pretty good considering you don't pay for the hardware. We just pay for BT Broadband (basic package) and any On Demand content that we watch. I haven't subscribed to any of the packages.

The Freeview side of things works well, with dual tuners, and will still function when the internet is down, but you have no idea what you're watching/recording as the EPG doesn't work). Obviously OnDemand doesn't work with no internet.

And if you decide you want to stop using BT as your ISP, then the box basically becomes useless.

Also they've just removed the ability to Catch-up on BBC content (or rather they've added it to a Pay Package whereas it used to be free), but I use my PC for BBC and 4OD anyway - which is still free.
