Brighton factually.....
I used to live there and used to go to springfield park every now and again and they have never had big support maybe 3000+ at home, Having said that it is a Rugby league town and the football team has done well to attract an extra 8000+ fans. Lets be honest thats what we would like to attract an extra 8000+ for Falmer. But still 60 is very very poor for the prem. Our away support is swelled by the fact there are a good portion who wont go to withers.

Even taking into consideration the ticket prices, train fares etc, I would have thought more than 60 fans would make the trip for a Premier League match! The distance isn't even amazingly far aswell.

If I was the chairman I would actually reward the die hards and at least refund their entrance fee, whats it going to cost him? 2 grand tops? and imagine the PR they would get from it.

Even though they won it would not have been much fun for the fans trying to out sing the spurs fans.

Also, another thought, if it really was only 60 fans then there was probably less than 2 times the number of staff wigan took. 11 stating players, 7 subs, manager, assistant, coach, physio, thats 20 to start with :) Could have probably squeezed the fans onto the bench :)

They dont that last season at Tottenham so i doubt they will do it again.

Fulham only took 289 to Wigan last season (the figure has stuck in my mind as it was so small). Maybe fans are unable to afford long away trips considering the prices today, though I should have thought Wigan was one of the cheaper away grounds.

I remember us having about 45 for a match against Man City in the 80's

And in the 80s it as completely differnet and not that many fans travelled away. Silly comparison.

60 is disgusting. WE are a bigger club than Wigan IMO. The sooner the likes of them and Bolton go down the better. Crap fans. Crap clubs.

Finding some of the posts a bit pompous here

Train ticket £30-40
Match Ticket £40
Other expense £30

Can think of better things to park £100 on

Sounds like the Wigan fans have got better things to spend their money on than proving their 'loyalty'...

I would have thought they would have more than 60 fans living in London.

I know! I'm not going to start having a pop at club's away attendances but 60 does seem incredible when it's in Laaaaandan for gawds sake.

Pay 80 odd quid to watch a football match? f*** off! I don't blame the piemen

Spurs and all the rest of the PL/Sky cartel can go f*** themselves

Football is eating itself

60 is shocking. I mean how many did we take to Tottenham a few years back... :jester:

Joking aside, not all Wigan fans will live in Wigan, so as has been said more than 60 could have probably got there on the Tube.

Plus it is a bank holiday weekend so people could have made a weekend of it.

The Albion have a very strong away support which I'm proud to be a part of whenever I can. And The Withdean Factor probably boosts our away support, I for one would much rather watch a game where I'm surrounded by like minded fans standing up and singing throughout the game than sitting in a library.

But well done to the 60 that did bother, I bet they had a great journey back! (all on the same coach!)

We had amazing away support in the late 70's when we were winning. Once we reached the top flight, and after the excitement of visiting places such as Anfield and OT interest drained very rapidly as our away form was dismal for a lot of the time.

OK - I wasn't there in that era but thought football away was less popular.

Goon.
Let's just have all the big clubs stay up shall we and all the small clubs go down.

Goon?

I'm not saying that for a minute. There's big clubs / medium clubs / nice clubs and then there's Wigan IMO. Rugby town and woeful support - so yes the sooner they go down and someone like Forest or Sheffield take their place the better - still IMO.

Oh and GOON to you too.

It would appear that's not even a coach load ?

I am assuming the club did run a coach for the supporters ?

Doubt they charge the earth for this. £30 tops + match ticket. Not quite the £100 that was being mentioned earlier.

It gets worse, I seem to remember only 39 turning up for an FA Cup match with Pompey a few years ago!!

Terrible
